A batch of new videos showcasing Sony’s PSN title Wipeout HD recently surfaced on the internet…
The five videos are really impressive and show how great the game is looking so far. The videos show four tracks (Vineta K, Anulpha Pass, Moa Therma & Chenghou Project) and also give us a look at the new Zone Mode on the Vineta K track.
Check the videos for yourself over at videogamer.com

We know the game will be good… all the footage in the world wont help.
We need it NOW. Then we will become bored of it and moan about the next game “to come”…

I’m with komp - enough teasing already!
On a side note, will 2097 ever see the light of day on PSN or am i going to have to hit the 2nd hand section of my local store? Only been waiting for half a year now…

any news on controls? i know it’s compatible with sickaxis, but those darn airbrakes on the shoulder buttons kills it for me usually.

Looks amazing, as expected. No need to release it yet, MGO beta and GTA4 will keep me busy until at least mid-May, and I still need to wean myself off Everybody’s Golf.

Can’t wait to get this, Studio Liverpool turn out fantastic games. F1 Championship Edition is still one of the best looking racing games on the PS3 and WipeOut Pulse is fantastic on the PSP

What I would like to see in this game:
The motion control is great, but why would you use it unless:
There’s a split screen mode or
There are certain tournaments where you HAVE to use motion control or
The online time trial times/zone scores etc are recorded in 2 seperate lists, one for with motion control and one for without.
Otherwise, yes you’re challenging yourself, but there’s no real incentive ot use the motion controls and get good at it. Looks awesome though, even though I may be playing it with sticks

I just spew-typed about 500 words on this but I’m saving you all time by summing it up:
Sony, please release this game so I can see if it was worth buying a PS3 or not.

What happened to the calm, reserved female voice announcing the weapons? The new voice sounds like she’s shouting “Mines!!” “Rockets!!”
I quite liked the understated tones used in Pure and Pulse.

That looked beautiful, not big fan of these realistic racers so i’ll probably pick this up due to speed + guns + pickups = Fun :D!

Oh god, I wonder if we can change the voices. I don’t think I can listen to that. “Kuwake! Mayans!” Sounds like she’s stuck a finger up her nose at the same time too. Perhaps we get the option to adjust vocal volumes independent from the music and sound effects. Let’s hope so.

The real question is, will it still have the railsliding/ wall sliding that Wipeout XL had? That seriously was the most important improvement between Wipeout 1 and Wipeout XL and if they don’t have it I will be really disappointed.

After watching the vids again, it looks better than Wipeout Fusion, but still lacks the sense of speed and intensity of Wipeout XL. It also lacks the mood. WHy is every track in the daytime with a clear sky? No rain? No night races? I really hope this game doesn’t disappoint.

WipEout HD due ‘before the end of the year’
Posted Jul 17th 2008 6:15PM by Alan Tsang
We haven’t heard much from WipEout HD since PlayStation Day more than two months ago. Unfortunately, SCEE president David Reeves just spoke out about it, and informed us that “there is a specific technical problem with WipEout that we have to solve. I can’t go into details but it is a really, really tricky technical problem that no region has been able to solve at the moment.” Wipeout is an updated version of earlier PSP titles WipEout Pulse and Pure that aims to run at 1080p and 60 fps. Could the technical problem have something to do with getting the game to run at that resolution? Speculation aside, Reeves believes the game will “come out before the end of the year” but cautions that “it is something that was just very difficult to get to grips with.” We think it is safe to say we are all looking forward to this title when it is complete.
