Truly a thing of beauty. How much did they have to pay McLaren to get the designs for that thing?
Comment by iapetus — Mar 17, 2008 @ 5:14 pm
Thanks ThreeSpecch.
TheShirts, Alice is a tele communications company in Italy. I know alot of people dont like F1 (you are puffters).
Beautifully rendered car. THIS is the main reason for getting the game.

Haha, nice one iapetus.
AWESOME.
Comment by Youlikeyams — Mar 17, 2008 @ 5:35 pm
err … hoping these screenshots are at a lower resolution than 1080p because i think this looks poor in comparison to the road cars i’ve seen so far in this game. It just looks a bit basic, and no real improvement over Formula 1 Championship, although no doubt it’ll handle 100 times better than that!
Comment by Gasguzzla — Mar 17, 2008 @ 6:26 pm
Awesome, but remember what happens this weekend, any Ferrari finishes the race

Comment by koz — Mar 17, 2008 @ 11:29 pm
Screw Mclaren. Next weekend Ferrari will be back.
This is a good post by TS to discuss F1.
I was a Mclaren Fan from 1998-2006. From when I started watching F1 to when Kimi left. When Lewis started I had a good deal of respect for him. When ITV and the rest of the British media started to force feedhim to me thats when I lost any sense of positiveness toward him.
ITV seem to forget that there are another 21 drivers out there, not everyone gives a toss about Lewis or indeed Mclaren. I like Ferrari, Honda, Super Aguri and even Williams (great independant team).

You gotta be shittin’ me, Pyle!
Comment by Dean Gullberry — Mar 18, 2008 @ 12:02 am
i agree with anon, itv loves lewis and steve rider can’t stop talking about lewis even thou lewis has won jack (i mean world championship). plus lewis acts like he is world champion, when he has 7 world titles, then and only then he is a legend, for now a rookie. and f1 drivers have nothing but shit cars to start with. hamilton, 2nd best car to start with. finally, kimi and ferrari are champions.
Ferrari F2007 will be best car on GT5P & GT5

is that japanese version (japanese text at the bottom), dude when it coming out. please have all f1 team.
Comment by pariimn — Mar 18, 2008 @ 2:36 am
Hmm, too bad the Marlboro sign is missing.
I have 1 complain though, the driver’s head looks a little too big for the car.
Btw, the pic shows it’s in japanese… does that mean those of us who already bought the japanese version, will get to download the new cars and tracks !?!?
Comment by Aaron — Mar 18, 2008 @ 3:05 am
@11 - It’s not really Lewis Hamilton’s fault he media are all over him. You can’t really expect anything less anyway, the last time Britain had someone in F1 who was really up there was Damon Hill and we are talking 12 years ago there!
To get second, and so close to winning, the drivers championship in your very first F1 season is a big achievement and the fact is that people who don’t care about F1 generally are interested in how he is doing just for the fact he is a successful British sportman, and we don’t have that many!
Comment by TheShirts — Mar 18, 2008 @ 6:19 am
Hmm… F40 too
Comment by Demibeard — Mar 18, 2008 @ 6:45 am
i hope there’s F2008 in the final game!!!!
or polyphonic digital should make an F1 game, that would be awesome….who’s agree????
Comment by eeAnn — Mar 18, 2008 @ 8:04 am
I’ve always wished that PD would make an official F1 game. Could this be a sign of things to come?
I hope so!

Imagine GT5 with road cars, super cars, rally and 4X4, and to top it off F1 cars! The ultimate driving package….my life would be over!……
Comment by Nathaniel — Mar 18, 2008 @ 10:06 am
Amazing.
I vote for that F1 game from PD!!!!
Comment by Il Venturetto — Mar 18, 2008 @ 10:06 am
I used to work with Lewis Hamilton at Bedford Autodrome in 2004 and once raced him in 2003 too (he crashed into my team-mate…) He’s a very nice guy, and well deserves all the attention.
So many drivers in the past (British or otherwise) have had bundles of cash thrown at them to get them to F1 and they’ve wasted their opportunity when they got there and its mainly been down to the fact that they were never good enough in the first place.
Lewis on the other hand has grasped the opportunity and rewarded his backers with championships (lower formulae) and almost winning the F1 title in his first year under enormous pressure. And because he’s gone into F1 and shown the world how much better he is than the majority of the grid, it’s little wonder the boy has had the attention of the media who at last have stood up and taken note of his talents. If the media were forcing him upon us but he had the same [lack of] talent of around 75% of today’s F1 grid (including the other Brits), then yes I would agree with you anon, but he doesn’t, so it’s right that he gets the publicity and the support from press and public.
Comment by GC — Mar 18, 2008 @ 12:17 pm
Where are all these pics coming from? Since they don’t appear to be photos of the screen, do they elude to some kind of ‘photo mode’?
I am guessing that they are being provided by Sony.. But how are they generating these pics? Straight out of a PS3 running GT5P or some other system?
Comment by jweaver — Mar 18, 2008 @ 1:38 pm
TheShirts, I agree with you upto a point. I know ITV is a british channel and it seems with all the hype most people support hamilton. However I’m sure when ITV’s pre-race show 45 mins out of 60 mins are hamilton this, hamilton that. He would see it and know its just one thing.
He should say, look instead of feeding hype focus on the sport and other drivers. etc.
Still, this season promises to be interesting and this game is going to be great. I’m sure we can agree on that
Comment by anon — Mar 18, 2008 @ 1:45 pm

Still a shame I can’t properly crash though. I’d really like the option of damage. I know I know! Like many of yourselves, I take pride in my GT racing by racing well, and if I’m honest, I race with the thought that my replay will be seen, so I make it cool if poss. However, if the option for damage was there, then people would indeed be encouraged to race properly, because a little knock might well put you out of the race. While it might be a bit much for every game, just imagine what it would look like! GranTurismo gourmetness, coupled with MotorStorm debris, and Burnouts demormation and crashing. That would be something to behold. What’s a little irksome, is the knowledge that such technology has been done (if partially) already. Oh boy, full fat GT5 would be so much wealthier with damage.
Now then, isn’t it such a shame that we didn’t get a dirt track to play on? That GrandCanyon would have given some virtiginous racing.
Comment by LordOfRuin — Mar 18, 2008 @ 2:00 pm
Lewis Hamilton doesn’t act like he is a world champion. Considering his achievements so far (and his obvious talent - lets not underestimate what a stunning debut he made last year), I think he is a very modest, level-headed guy. He has a lot of respect for the other drivers and never comes across as spoilt or petulant (*cough* Alonso *cough*).
Comment by Obli — Mar 18, 2008 @ 6:45 pm
Untill Lewis is in a crap/mediocre car which Mclaren is due with in the next few seasons and he performs well, I doubt he deserves the coverage.
Previous comments say he deserve the coverage but I dont want to have to see the same crap week in week out about him. The other thing is he’s like 21 how and why the hell did he need an autobiography? Oh wait $$$…
Comment by anon — Mar 18, 2008 @ 10:10 pm
Agreed about the autobiography… and the fact that he is in one of the best cars. Still, his team mate last year was two-time world champion and Hamilton scored higher than him.
Comment by Obli — Mar 18, 2008 @ 11:45 pm
the fact is, his honorable mr gran turismo himself said in one interview (can’t remember where or when) that he would like to make an f1 game. i just hope that if he is to bring it into gt5, he would include the cars from other f1 teams as well (mclaren, bmw, honda, toyota, renault, etc.)
on the issue of damage in gt5… i don’t think we will ever see damage in gt because of licensing issues. i don’t mind for it not being there and are happy that it is not. it is actually a pain in the ass as you worry more about damage control than actually enjoying your racing. but thats just me. besides, all the extra programming to include damage will cause a drop in the beautiful visuals we see now.
i just hope that pd (and this can go for other gaming companies as well) will bear in mind that not all ps3 gamers (like myself) has access to online gaming, so we don’t miss out too much out on content (especially extra cars and tracks) available exclusively through downloads.
and then, it is only the licensing issue of porsche, lamborghini, nascar, wrc and what have you to be sorted out (damn you ea in this regard), and gt5 will be the heaven…
gt5 is the reason why i got a ps3, and i’m whishing the days away untill the release…
Comment by reiger — Mar 19, 2008 @ 7:18 am
So you are saying he doesn’t deserve respect because he has a good car? That’s ridiculous. He finished above Alonso and Massa, both very good, very experienced drivers in cars that are the same as, or better, than his own. Surely that is testament to how good he is and it was his first season. Experience will only improve him.
Comment by TheShirts — Mar 19, 2008 @ 11:31 am
Hamilton is a good English/British driver in an English/British car - that’s why he’s getting a lot of coverage, even given his very obvious skills as a driver. He’s made a lot of experienced drivers look extremely ordinary.
We haven’t had that combination for a number of years, since… well, Nigel Mansell… and that’s why a lot of people are happy to see it. Button is average, and Coulthard… well, more like coldturd… how does someone so exceedingly average make a living at F1?
Personally, I despise Ferrari and their over-priced Fiat’s, so I’m happy to see anyone beat them. Time to shoot the horse!
Comment by Paranoimia — Mar 21, 2008 @ 12:31 am
Alot of you arent new f1 fans are you? jumping aboard the hype train.
Again you dont seem to understand, not everyone in the UK supports the England team, so not everyone supports hamilton. I personally skip ITV’s pre-race show now. Even with Martin Brundle’s award winning stuff.
I hope on the BBC they wont continue with this crap.
