Isnt the Idea of putting up retro downloads that the games are sposed to be classics. 360 has Sensi soccer, REZ HD, puzzlefighter….
And why no everyday shooter??

this update would of been cool if we had PSN prepaid cards…..

Where the hell is PAIN?
It’s not like it’s even that brilliant a release, but the US have had it since last year!!!

I hate to complain, especially as this is a pretty cool update (DMC 4 demo is definitely a nice addition), but why do we not have the Turok demo? It has been on the X-Box 360 for two weeks and it is on the PS Store in America so why do we still not have it?
Also, what the hell has happened to Super Puzzle Fighter HD Remix? It came out MONTHS ago in America!!
Comment by Mace — Jan 31, 2008 @ 6:17 pm
Theme Hospital - That’s pretty tempting for a thursday night bash
I agree about the lowly uk updates though - i really dont see why there’s such delays between the different regions.

FADE TO BLACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Comment by JohnSketch — Jan 31, 2008 @ 7:13 pm
No everyday shooter, no advanced research, no pain, no super puzzle fighter (its been approved by SCEE QA so why didnt it get posted on the store?), no GOOD ps1 games that the US has had for months like Castlevina
old demos that the US has had for months.
BAD update
Comment by carl — Jan 31, 2008 @ 7:14 pm
I can’t even be bothered to complain anymore! Well done SCEE, you’ve ground every last ounce of soul out of me
Comment by Timbo — Jan 31, 2008 @ 7:17 pm
Last year every week was Crap
this year week 1 = C
this year week 2 = R
this year week 3 = A
this year week 4 = P
SCEE is giving us the Same CRAP treatment again
Comment by Terrortime — Jan 31, 2008 @ 7:23 pm
I guess Three Speech is just about one way communication
You put out fluff stories, but are impotent when it comes to answering questions that shouldn’t be that difficult to answer
Nice gig, duplicate information easily sourced elsewhere, collect cheque from Sony
Comment by Sean — Jan 31, 2008 @ 7:40 pm
@9
It’s another example of SCEE’s way of treating us.
Shitty updates and 1 way communication while the US enjoy a blog where they get direct answers to questions right below your post.
I’ve even had a direct response to just posting on there saying wouldn’t it be sweet if we had that in the EU!
Makes me wonder what it will take to get some action on this? I’m consdiering even watchdog at this rate!
Comment by Shrui — Jan 31, 2008 @ 8:08 pm
Okey, another week goes past and I’m getting a little of tired of waiting for some great titles on the PSN. I know its not wholly accurate but the pegi site has a list of all the titles rated for the PSN:
Bust a Groove, colony wars, cool boarders 2, Cool Boarders 3, Crash Bandicoot 2 +3, Dark mist, Destruction Derby 2, Everybodys golf 2, High Velocity Bowling, Klona, Kurusihi Final, Motor Toon GP 1 + 2, Namco Museum 1 + 2, PAin, Ridge Racer, Ridge Racer Type 4, Everyday Shooter, Rocketmen: Axis of Evil, SKy Diving, Spyro 2+ 3, Super Puzzle Fighter 2, Syphon Filter 1 + 3, Tekken 2 + 3, Twisted Metal, Vib Ribbon, Wipeout 2097 + 3
the PSN cataloge looks great but there hasn’t really been much to shout about since G-Police was released late last year. Please sony, I want to love the PSN, but its getting very hard and I don’t wanna sign up for a dodgy entropay card.
Comment by Liquidcalm — Jan 31, 2008 @ 8:17 pm
Nice update, keep the PS1 games coming.
@Mace
I heard a rumour that the US version of Puzzle Fighter is being patched to add voice chat, and the game won’t be released here until the new version is ready.

Comment by Terry — Jan 31, 2008 @ 10:22 pm
This update was OK in that we at least got a couple of playable demos.
I must protest about the price of these PS1 games, I mean honestly nobody surely think that these prices are acceptable, 99p absolute maximum, possibly even cheaper. There is no physical medium needed for distribution so there really is no excuse for this price setting so sort it out SCEE.
Comment by Ton Capone — Jan 31, 2008 @ 11:31 pm
I don’t think I can even be bothered anymore. What a wasted opportunity. No new PSN games, rubbish PS1 games, Demos that have either been out ages or people have already played on 360. Such a shame to see the PSN failing so badly. I could go into yet another rant about how badly SCEE are at running the EU Store, but seriously, whats the point, they obviously don’t listen and don’t care. I’m going back to my 360, at least MS seems to respect it’s EU customer better than Sony. My parting advice, not that it worth anything, is this:
Sony, please wake up and stop burying your head in the sand. the PS3 and especially it’s online service is a joke, literally. People actually laugh at me when I tell them I have a PS3. You need to get the EU store up to scratch and quickly, it’s been almost a year and it is pathetic. Please engage with your EU community. This website is not enough, it is to one-way. We need something along the lines of Xbox’s Major Nelson and something that allows us to feel like your even listening to feedback. If there are valid reasons for why the EU store is rubbish, then tell us, I think people would be more understanding than this stoney wall of silence which just gives the impression you don’t care in the slightest about this region. And while your at it, sort out the XMB, voice chat and game delays, until then the PS3 and it’s online service is but a shadow when compared to ‘others’.
It’s such a shame, I’ve been a fan of Sony consoles for so long, but they really have lost the plot with things at the minute. I don’t take pleasure in this, but I’m not going to bend over and take it either. If you treat us like crap, expect to get burnt. For the love of god, please start providing some official feedback and listening, until then the ongoing joke that is the PS3 will stumble on from one PR disaster to the next, sad really.
Comment by Sparky — Feb 1, 2008 @ 12:54 am
Ton, they have to reprogramm them to work on the current consoles. That costs a lot of money, do you know what a games developer gets paid per day?
Comment by John — Feb 1, 2008 @ 1:23 am
Three Speech, err… Why did the US get those really powerful looking TV adverts with the great looking games, and we got the one with the guy & the poodle who walks a bit funny.
Do the SCEE guys laugh about us in the canteen?
Comment by Divine — Feb 1, 2008 @ 1:56 am
Its a decent update why people moan so much is beyond me,enjoy what you have!
Pain is listed as a feb release and has been for weeks!
Comment by andy — Feb 1, 2008 @ 7:29 am
It’s a shame really, I always look forward to Thursdays with at least mild enthusiasm, but it is getting harder
Although I’ve RE-bought some PS1 titles (Crash 1 & 2, Kula World) I’ve still got most of my original collection G-Police, RR4, FF-VII etc so most of these I’ll not be buying anyway.
The other region releases do grate though, now I know you can’t release everything at the same time and that the Americans have a head start on Europe, but who it at fault for that?
Not the consumer. I’ve had mine since launch, you remember that lot who spent £500 on you little shiny ‘box’, I think you call us early-adopters.
I have no problem with the hardware, well the odd confused controller, and that one time it couldn’t find my HDD, but otherwise, great.
The browser really needs an update. I hate the fact I have to boot my PC to read one or two sites.
The software support / communication from SCEE has been either non-existent or so old it’s untrue.
I’m not having a pop at ThreeSpeech, they can only ‘print’ what they are given, but really Sony should be using this site to break the news, not recant it.
Fortunately this is one of the PS3/PSP sites I can read at work, the others got blocked. So I do read you (almost everyday)
I just wish Sony would treat you and us with more respect.

Everyday Shooter, PAIN, where the hell are they? don’t tell me a shooter-type game requires lenghty translation and localization because I WORK IN A EUROPEAN TRANSLATION/LOCALIZATION OFFICE. I know how much time these things take from start to finish and I can tell you one of our clients is a major electronic company (not Sony…) whose 120p General Catalogue we localize in 17 languages for around 20 european countries twice each year, and it takes little over 2 and a half months from order to shipping of printed products with a staff of little over a dozen employees… Everyday Shooter would be wrapped in about two weeks at this rate (then again we’re not equiped for video game localizations as we do mostly websites and catalogues… So I’m not offering we do it)
What’s keeping us waiting? What’s the REAL reason?
“Wow! all these languages take time to translate!” is just bull… If we were talkin Tales of Symphonia or Final Fantasy XII I’d understand as these kind of games have a whoppin’ amount of text to deal with… but we’re talking Every-fudgin’-day Shooter… as in “shooter” as in “you shoot things” not “you read things”
So unless there’s a major programming flaw that makes it a nightmare to port to the 50Hz refresh rate our TVs here in PAL territories have, I can’t think of anything more that could hold back the release of this game in Europe… Laws maybe? C’mon, this isn’t Manhunt 2…
I’m not even asking for a date anymore, I just want us to be told if we should still expect to receive these titles SOMEDAY, or if they’ve been canned altogether.
Comment by Inzoum — Feb 1, 2008 @ 9:30 am
Well, at least it IS an update…
but most unfortunately it seems like $ony still can’t “afford” to publish the DMC4-demo in the german-PSN.
It seems like german psn-users still are not “mature” enough to cope with the amount of “excessive violence” in DMC4!
Blamey! I should have created my us-account when I had the chance… but as an honest psn-user your just f****d up! ;P
Comment by codshin — Feb 1, 2008 @ 9:44 am
@Inzoum
A US game has to be:
Translated into several languages
Modified to run on PAL TVs
Rated by PEGI
Go through a full QA process.
This all takes time. I’m not excusing SCEE for the delays but there is much more involved in bringing a game to Europe than many people seem to think.

Any who cares about this content the only thing I want from store is super puzzle fighter which we are never gonna have, little big planet which isnt out till “september” and home which wont be with us till 2010 if sony has anything to do with it.
Comment by BENNE77 — Feb 1, 2008 @ 10:59 am
I agree with the comments about communication. As an example I’ve been listening to the Crash FM podcast which is basically just the guys from Criterion Games responding to emails and discussing the features of Burnout Paradise. They read out some letters which are funny, some which are brown nosing but a few which just slate their game. They respond to the issues in a mature and informed way which really shows they care what people think and wish to answer criticism. I respect them a great deal for that.
Why the hell can’t SCEE do the same. I’m not saying ‘make better updates’ or ‘give me XMB in-game’ or any of that, I just want an open forum of discussion with SCEE employees who can answer our concerns and questions in an official capacity
Comment by TheShirts — Feb 1, 2008 @ 11:46 am
There has been no update for the Scanidnavian contries.
Why is that?

Perhaps someone with some dev knowledge can answer this.
If the delay in titles is due to the games being converted for PAL TVs then why can I download demos from the US store and they work perfectly fine on my old PAL TV? (genuinely curious, not having a go here).

ThreeSpeech
Thank you
One comment and my frustration is gone
If it turns out the answer is “sorry we can’t get an answer” then fair enough
Just needed to know someone is trying
Comment by Sean — Feb 1, 2008 @ 1:43 pm
@36
I dont think the its techincal side of the conversion that takes the longest.
But rather the localization part. I think that Sony should be a bit more pragmatic when it comes to localization.
Both Heavenly Sword and Ratchet and Clank featured danish voices.
The total population of Denmark is 5470919.
First of all, localizing to danish cannot have a good return of investment.
Secondly, it takes must prolong the process of preparing a game for a EU release.
Im shure the clever people at SCEE have thought of this, but perhaps they should look at thier process again.

Erik, Every day shooter, Pain, advanced research have NO voice acting, they have a max of hundred words, have already been rated by PEGI and work on PAL tvs (when d/l) from the US store.
This does not explain why it has taken 6 months to get Every day shooter or Advance research out.
Comment by carl — Feb 1, 2008 @ 2:36 pm
@39
Agreed there appears to be no excuse for the looong wait for these titles.
(What I was refering to was the general delay of full price titles)
Im just as frustrated as you (if not more, seeing that Denmark has yet to see an update this week)
Comment by Erik Mejer Hansen — Feb 1, 2008 @ 2:47 pm
@28,
again since Demos on the US were already including the “obsolete” EU Languages,
again no reason to delay..
PAL requirement is solved by Hardware and is obsolete when on PLASMA /LCD (HDMI/VGA)
which the majority in the EU have anyway.
Comment by Terrortime — Feb 1, 2008 @ 4:54 pm
btw SONY can make millions of PS3 users happy,
by doing the following:
create 1 store on which all things get released in 1 time (no matter the language (japan/English)
update the content when languages are available, statisfying the remaining thousands.
it 2008 for in G0D’s name,not 1731
Comment by Terrortime — Feb 1, 2008 @ 5:01 pm
@37 threespeech
that would be greatly appreciated. I’m as dissapointed as anyone with the lack of quality game sthat have already been released in america for months (everyday shooter, puzzlefighter, pain, castlevania ps1 et al) but why dont the online gaming press (eurogamer c&v, ign etc)do their jobs and investigate the issues SCEE are obviously having, and the frustratuions of the customers.
Comment by lj — Feb 1, 2008 @ 6:23 pm
Really dont care about the PSN anymore, nice one SCEE. I’ll just wait for that £40 “demo” of Gran Turismo 5 to come out instead…
Comment by Terry — Feb 2, 2008 @ 12:56 pm
What a … ah never mind.
Given up complaining, I’ll just continue to get my content from the US store, like have been doing for the last 6 months.
Comment by Alisdair Comb — Feb 4, 2008 @ 12:45 pm
Can’t believe people are still moaning about updates! I think you’d have thought by now you just accept it’ll be crap then anything better than that is a bonus!
I’d had enough of my PS3 and Sony and picked up a 360 at xmas and havent really looked back since, the PS3 is a slow burner but come on!
As for the delay between regions well, that’s been happening since PS1 days and while it’s a pain in the ass all you can do is accept it, better still write to SCEE instead and ask them directly what the problem is!
