It’s Devil May Cry HD. Same old formula. That’s not a bad though.

Comment by Blue Gene — Jan 31, 2008 @ 5:11 pm
Will definitely check it out when I get home!
Comment by reakt — Jan 31, 2008 @ 5:20 pm
meh - got it last week from the USA store…seems the same as the original game which I had for the PS2, so dont think i’ll bother with it.
On a side note in relation to the store update……please please please Three Speech can you find out where the hell Everyday Shooter, Super Puzzle Fighter HD and Pain are?!!?
Comment by elephant_stone — Jan 31, 2008 @ 5:21 pm
Oh dear! Just played the Devil May Cry 4 demo and it is truly awful, even more so than Heavenly Sword which it is almost identical to.
This type of gameplay has been done to death and developers need to get that into their heads.
This gen will never progress as long as developers fail to have a single original thought.
I also object to their flogging of these dead horses for a quick buck, it really is terrible.

I havent played a DMC since no.1 so if this one good I might get it! The formula wont be tired for me sinced I only played one of the old games!
Need Pain and Everyday Shooter, also Socm Confrontation! PixelJunkMonsters any good???
Comment by Superted2007 — Jan 31, 2008 @ 9:42 pm
I thought it was ok, I really liked the original but as some have said that was a few years back so the formula needs to change a little. Not to happy with the store update but I give up complaining now.

Zed Zee: Well seeing as 360 owners constantly have to pay Microsoft every month for using a service that should be free I shouldn’t laugh as much as you imply that you do…
Comment by Alex — Feb 1, 2008 @ 10:14 am
@12 Totally agree!
@16 PJ Monsters is good but im finding it dead hard, cant get past the first medium level! I too want everyday shooter and Pain!
Comment by elephant.stone — Feb 1, 2008 @ 11:28 am
@ Alex:
Well, seeing that XBL is infinitely better at doing things than PSN and that you pay a measly annual fee for a much more proficient, effective and useful (ie. value for money) service, then I suggest that PS3 owners either put up or pay up.
But knowing Sony, though, a fee-based service will cost the UK/Europe an arm and a leg and things will still be released late, while the US/Japan get theirs for peanuts.
Over & Out.
Comment by Zed Zee — Feb 1, 2008 @ 3:47 pm
Is that based on your extensive experience of both Zed Zee, or is it based off looking on the 360 fanboy forums?
Comment by Tom — Feb 1, 2008 @ 5:27 pm
wow DMC is more expensive on the PS3! I guess that makes up for the 360 being a badly built, underpowered, noisy piece of crap that is more expensive than a ps3 when you take into account the additional cost of a hd dvd drive, the XBL subscription and wireless adapter… good argument! Anyway DMC is good fun - in an old fashioned sorta way
Comment by schechs — Feb 2, 2008 @ 12:52 am
@ 18 & 21
Where do you get off trying to downplay the PS3 in a semi-official PS3 blog? It’s just not wise. Both consoles have pros and cons, but this is about the games, in particular DMC4.
The game is *kinda* fun. Having not played any other it was completely new to me, but it seemed a bit too basic. The enemies didn’t fight back well, the gun doesn’t appear to do any real damage (even after charging). I do however, like the challenging boss battle, and the graphics. Destructable environments are few and far between, but even still, it’s quite nice to see. Not sure I like him saying “Slam Dunk” every single time after throwing an enemy though.
Overall, quite a good demo, if only for that huge boss fight.
