I am a huge fan of the Jak and Daxter franchise and am dissapointed to say that there were many points in the storylike that left us wanting more. I wanted to make a proposal for you, why not makethe next expansion of Jax and Daxter into an online PC game? Notice all the people wandering haven city in the Jak 2 and Jak 3 games? What if those were all real world players? What if Gol from The original Jak and Daxter survived the crash in the pool of dark eco and begam a whole new legend for millions of players and it never ended!?

Err, why not give the user the option to choose?

Thanks for making the decision for us!

Shame, because for me it ruins the best game of 2007.

He's lying about the screen tearing. Dropping an occasional frame equates to a much smoother frame-rate than tearing, and you don't drop to the whole half frame-rate, you just drop a frame here and there - if your engine is almost coping that is.

If you're just out of time for a frame, you don't waste almost a whole frame waiting for the next one, you just start rendering to a third buffer instead. Then by the time it gets shown the next is just about ready to go. This is all they're doing currently - but instead of using a 3rd buffer so the screen flip is tear-free, they're blitting over the front buffer, and overwriting it's content whilst the video is being displayed - equals messy tear.

The only technical reason not to do this is memory requirement - you need that 3rd (or 4th) buffer - or on limited hardware which only supports double-buffers. It also complicates timing of the animation system to ensure the smoothest animation - but tearing so completely messes that up, it would still look much better even without it.

Tearing is just bullshit on these systems. It was kinda acceptable on god of war because the system had so little memory, but on todays hardware is it just rubbish.

If a lowly title like tomb raider; legends can get very smooth triple buffering going on the ps2, there's no reason not to get the same on a ps3.

[...] So, Naughty Dog’s Evan Wells has been answering questions over at ThreeSpeech. We’re jealous, since you all should know how much we love Uncharted. Some of these questions are good, some are left for the more techno-savvy or tech-fetish folk. Check out the full Q&A session for the complete story. - Wells indirectly says “no” to both multiplayer and DLC — with all the medals and unlockables, no downloadable content is planned right now. No multiplayer either, since the team wanted to create the best single-player experience possible.- Uncharted is using approximately 33% of the PS3’s available power. We’re about 76% sure that he’s making up about 28% of that statistic, but we wouldn’t be surprised if much better stuff gets squeezed from the PS3 in the future.
Cracking title this. I enjoy solid single player games and this is right up there. Looking forward to the sequel.

Off topic somewhat. Any news on ps3 update with divx?

@LordOfRuin : What sort of genetic abomination of a pet do you own? Unless you are the one breeding this hideous thing. I really don't think there is a market for noseless dogs, like there was for tailless dogs. They chop them off you know, their not born without tails! Except for this breed of cat in Singapore, which has like half a tail. At least that is what I was told by the locals, but then maybe their ox-tail soups are not made out of ox.

Anyway, Sit Boo Boo Sit!
