Looks like Threespeechers have been behaving themselves this year: special Christmas treats all round in the shape of Operation Omega Dawn - the new Warhawk expansion pack. It will be released on the PSN on December 20 and is priced at only £3.99. Enjoy!

& where is all the other content promised for november and december?
Where are Piyotama, puzle fighter HD, poker, toy home, everyday shooter, pain, bust-a-groove, snakeball, bowling, flow expansion pack and blast factor advanced research??
Half way through december now, and we find ourselves getting NONE of this promised content.

I just shit! That’s how excited I am. W00t w00t.
Okay, sorry for that, but I’m a n00b to using these new terms that suddenly appear to be in American dick-tionaries. Hee hee, you can pwn me later about it.
Oh dear, fear not, that’ll be the last time I use those studid non-words. Blimey, I fear for the death of conversation and proper English. Slowly we’re reducing our conversations back down to the grunts and mumblings of cave men. Aliens will visit and wonder. LOL.

Yer i agree with Russ, the americans got PAIN on the day we got the trailer, same with NFS: ProStreet, the collectors edition was out the same week as the game, and here we are, loyal PlayStationers, left in the dark.
I just hope, we ll get cheered up soon, and have something decent that the americans get gelous of.
But anyway, thank you very much for the info, I’ll be buying it ASAP.

Got the whole of next week off work, so at least I can brush up on the old WarHawk skills before the new pack is released. Not a bad price either…
Comment by Dan (PSN-Detale) — Dec 12, 2007 @ 4:42 pm

Anyone know what happens to those who don’t buy the expansion?
i.e. will there still be dedicated servers?
Comment by rothbury — Dec 12, 2007 @ 4:54 pm
hmm something no-one else has asked, whats in the expansion, maps??
Comment by Phil — Dec 12, 2007 @ 5:20 pm
yeah, though the existing maps are altered aswell to accomodate the new vehicle, not sure how this will work
Comment by rothbury — Dec 12, 2007 @ 5:21 pm
So I guess it comes out tommorrow for Amercia, since they get everything first
Comment by stephen92 — Dec 12, 2007 @ 5:49 pm
Phil, where have you been? New map, and a new transport plane to use on all maps. All very lovely.
Comment by LordOfRuin — Dec 12, 2007 @ 5:51 pm
Oh hey, I’ve been getting Playstation Network errors all afternoon. Has anybody else? My PC has remained connected in a normal way with no obvious hiccups.

[...] NEW WARHAWK EXPANSION PACK [ThreeSpeech] [...]
Pingback by Warhawk Expansion Hits PSN Next Thursday - eXophase Games Network — Dec 12, 2007 @ 6:00 pm
The Omega Dawn Booster pack adds 3 key things:
* A night-time battlefield with 6 layouts called the “Omega Factoryâ€. It’s huge btw.
* New 7-player aircraft called the KT-424 Combat Dropship.
* And 5 updated bonus layouts for battlefields from the original game so that you can play using the new Dropship.
First let me ramble on about the new battlefield: Many of you all wanted a night time level so that’s what we did. The battlefield takes place at night well… actually at early dawn. We wanted to make this level a bit more challenging and visually improved than our previous levels. It has more involved building layouts with more vertical structures, platforms and detailed spaces for ground troops.
This more advanced layout compliments the dropship really well as there are some places in the level that are only accessible by air. This is especially cool for transporting vehicles! We also added some macro scale color changes to the bases to help players communicate locations within the symmetrically balanced battlefield.
The Combat Dropship is pretty damn sweet I gotta say. During the entire Omega Dawn dev-cycle I was trying to have us deliver on the crazy notion of a “Multiplayer BOSSâ€. Something that a team could all work together to control and that would require other players to work as a team to defeat the opposing team’s “BOSSâ€. We’ve had several just wicked memorable moments playing with our testers that felt like classic BOSS battles … but in a fast-paced multiplayer game!
What else?
Oh yeah…we also integrated the Combat Dropship in the 5 biggest layouts from the original game. It really changes the way those levels play which is good ‘cause it gives them a fresh feel … like an Irish spring!

I’m curious as to whether Warhawk owners would prefer these kinds of downloads (clearly from the above, plenty of you do) or whether you’d prefer to have Sony improving on Warhawk and having it as a sort of MMO type of game, whereby its engine gets upgraded regularly and it just keeps going as an online game with emphasis on the online experience, rather than these drip-fed packs?
Would that be an interesting thing to challenge Sony to do? Would that be something that Warhawk owners like to see?
I don’t own any of this stuff - don’t even have a PS3 (I have PS2 and PSP) - but I was just curious to ask that of existing owners.

Pingback by Gen PS » Neues WARHAWK Expansion Pack — Dec 14, 2007 @ 1:37 pm
@29 Zed Zee - I like it the way it currently is with the paid downloadable packs. I’ve read a lot of complaints that the Omega Dawn expansion should be free.. some people say it should be for compensation for the “server is full” error and stat problems.
For me though, it’s a cheap full game with zero subscription fee. If you want the upgrade with new vehicle/maps you can pay for it once and still have a game cheaper than most games, and have hours on hours of free online play.
Maybe I’m just not hardcore enough of a Warhawk player, but I see it more of a fun game to just casually jump into and play for a few rounds, rather than something like Final Fantasy XI where I’d expect the world to evolve a bit every couple of months with new quests, items, weapons, community events, whatever…
I do however wish that they’d include some free novelty packs for Warhawk though… like funny Christmas textures for soldiers, or a Warhawk that looks like santa’s sleigh or something. Those are just model and texture changes though for a particular event timeframe - those shouldn’t be too complicated to do. Omega Dawn however is a big production effort and deserves some money for its effort (especially as there are no server fees).
