Ubisoft released the first details of the highly anticipated sequel to their smash hit Rainbow Six Vegas today, along with a couple more screenshots (which can be seen above). Looks like their strategy is along the lines of ‘more of the same’ with some added improvements – which is no problem considering the high quality of the original title. Here’s a round up of new features taken from the official press release.
• More Multiplayer - The highly acclaimed multiplayer mode in Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas has been upgraded to include 13 new maps with more intense face-offs, two new adversarial modes, more rewards, and easier access to matches using the improved and intuitive matchmaking system.
• Unprecedented Customizable Experience - Create your own identity that persists through both the single player and multiplayer modes and progresses along with you. Reap the benefits of your single player rewards in multiplayer and vice versa.
• Vastly Improved Co-op Mode - Turn single player mode into co-op mode at any time, just by jumping into the game. Now you and a friend can jump into a single player game and assist without any change to the story. The single player maps and storyline were created with co-op in mind, meaning every map has multiple entry points and the story is unaffected.
• Challenging AI - The AI is more challenging than ever. Now, the terrorists are equipped with thermal vision, night vision, and shields - not to mention a multitude of varying tactics - all of which are guaranteed to give you a new playing experience every time you go into battle. As you progress within the game, you’ll be able to outsmart your enemies by taking advantage of intelligence opportunities, such as thermal scanning.
• New Weapons and Armour - Take down the terrorists more effectively using 11 new weapons. New camouflage, clothing and gear allow for the ultimate customisations.
• More Vegas - Sin City is back and bigger than before. Explore all new Vegas hot spots and the gritty back streets creating a visual experience that is as challenging as it is breathtaking.

Hmm…
I played the original o nthe 360, heard the PS3 version wasn’t great. I don’t really want “more of the same”, you see one casino you see them all I want different environments.

more of the same… probably not a good thing.

Depends how you look at it. More of the same exciting gameplay and fights with the enemy is a good thing - they can’t change everything, and why bother when you’ve got a system that works? Although, I do agree that they need to refresh the environments a bit.

Could not disagree with 1 & 2 more. I thought the single player campaign was among the best ever. Never mind the unrealistic cover system. It took strategy, thought and practice to enter a room and nail the terrorists. I played it on both systems and while the PS3 version took a slight hit in the graphics dept., I really think those days are over. The PS3 might be the lead platform for this. Just speculation.

I was damned annoyed at the end of the first game (had it for PC so never experienced the problems with the bad port) -
Ended so damned abruptly after the Dam scene and the rocket - wanted more!

what i meant was, like the Call of Duty series 1 - 3, oh another WWII setting um -yay- that’s why i didn’t bother until 4 came along. Rainbow Six is a good game and since this weeks update i can now play my PSX copy on a PSP, but in Vegas AGAIN! cop-out i cry.

Ah… typical yearly “more of the same” from UbiSoft. I think I’m done with their games.

I bought the first one after hearing how great it was, but:
1. Graphics aren’t that great for this generation
2. “Been there, done that” gameplay
3. Extremely short, stupid story. It just ends. It seemed really sloppy, and in the end I felt cheated.

It’s a wonder Ubisoft don’t wheel Jade Raymond out to pretend she produced it in an ardant and cynical bid to flog a few more copies.

While I really like the way the first one plays, such as the cover system, team commands, etc.. They do need more variety with the environments, setting the vast majority of the game in vegas, was a bit of a chore by the end of it, I was pleased about getting to the Dam level, mostly for a change of scene more than anything.. This sounds great, but Im not sure about returning to vegas again. Although, going by the screens, at least there willl be daylight…

Tom Clancy games suck balls though…they are never really interesting…the stories are always awful….they are just the same old games everytime.

UBISOFT, give us graphics that don’t suck. You were one of the worst publishers of 2007.
Worst publishers of 2007 for PS3 development
1/ EA
2/ Midway
3/Ubisoft
I don’t mind another vegas, just give us a decent version of it.
Better frame rates and better upscaling to 1080 as the last one just blowed big time. Or even better give us 30-60 fps at 1080.
Thats my rant over, Merry Christmas everyone!

yh there are problems with the first game but to me its a very good game and play it all the time still, around 200 hours up to now, even though I never finished single player.
online really needs a big overall, firstly please make it so you can just straight into your friends games its stupid how you have to wait for an invite.
I will definatly buy this because i know I will get my moneys worth.

I enjoyed the single-player, which was - according to reviews - pretty much identical to the 360 version. (Though possibly only on a HDTV… I got my Bravia while playing this game, and it is far better in HD than SD.)
But the mutiplayer sucked, due primarily to (a) the graphical hit it took (looked like a PS2 game), and (b) the excrutiatingly poor lag… even on my 20Mb connection, it was unplayable most of the time, while Resistance 40-player games were fine.
I’m happy to buy the 2nd game if the multiplayer is sorted out.

i really don’t think its going to be more of the same, if you watch the interviews you find that out. its suppose to be more of the events leading up to Vegas (so those wouldn’t be in Vegas) and the events after Vegas (also wouldn’t be in Vegas). if you look at the screen shots you don’t see and slot machines but what you do see is a bunch of back alleys and places like those. such as Mexico and Dantes in the first one.
I’m sure I’m getting the second one though cause i loved the first one and got 100+ hours of game play from it (off line).

I think that game play was great but think it sucks when u join game and u can’t play until game is over….. cmon what fun is that
Comment by Antho — Dec 26, 2007 @ 4:37 am
Gameplay A+…… but more destructible environment no more indestructible slot machines….. please

I really enjoyed the first R6V game on the Playstation 3, however if the graphics of #2 are as poorly translated as the original, then I will have to save my $59.99 for another title.
Comment by Bengoshi-San — Dec 26, 2007 @ 5:36 pm
If they want this game to be a success, they need to build it on the PS3 then port to 360. Not visa versa.
Comment by Reza — Dec 28, 2007 @ 1:57 pm
I loved the original vegas and bring on vegas 2 but we all deserve better graphics plus could we please sprint during gameplay plus a wider selection of weapons and accessories please

This game is going to be really cool and i am pumped for it but one thing caught my eye on another site: “host’s gear will effect rest of the players on his team” i dont know exactly what that means but im hoping its not what i think it means. -having to wear the same camo as the host if he’s on your team. i really, really hope not or it would destroy the game. PEC is the best part of it i think. but who knows, if that is true then the advanced weapon specialization something will probably wipe my tears.

” as some retards say.
