Where Geometry war advanced research, Spryo,Guns Cash Chaos, Everyday shooter, Lair demo, Castlevian SotN?
And what the hell does this mean:
“Content of the Lite Pack 5 ( Roadhog & Buffalo) - this content will
substitute the online mode which is not available anymore.”
Are they removing the online play for motorstorm?

And where is that statment from Sony?
Comment by Carl Crawford — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:34 pm
This is better, Sony.
I don’t know what half of these updates are, or when they’ll come out exactly over the next two months or their prices, for that matter. But this is the kind of update that I think gamers would appreciate more than the previous trickles on PSN.
I’m quite happy with my PS2 and PSP at the moment, as I have loads of games to finish on them both. But I suspect that this update will go a little way to please PS3 fans.
Comment by Zed Zee — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:38 pm
6 comments in and already 2/3 of them are negative, despite this being good news.
Are you just not interested in the stuff Sony are releasing, or do you have bottomless pockets? If they released all of the above and everything else you mentioned, I doubt I could afford to get it all at once anyway!
Comment by Chris Scott — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:38 pm
Hmm.. I wonder when the 2.0 firmware update will show up. Hopefully this month! Strangely enough, it’s what I want the most.
Comment by amras_telemnar — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:42 pm
I second Mr Sketch’s excitement @ G-Police - loved that game. Colony Wars too.
@ 4 - Isn’t Geometry Wars an XBL thing? The Blast Factor Advanced Research pack is up there on that list mate. Don’t know about the others though. Does anyone actually want a Lair demo?
I sincerely doubt they’re dropping the online play for Motorstorm. It was still nice and busy last night when I caught a couple of races. I don’t think they’re that crazy, there was an updated patch only last week…
Comment by Dan (PSN - Detale) — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:44 pm
@9 - News on that is coming tomorrow but it will be within the next two weeks!!
Comment by Three Speech — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:47 pm
It’s an awesome list, anybody complaining needs to get a grip. I think there is more content listed for November than we had over the whole summer. The only thing I’m disappointed about is the lack of confirmation on Wipeout HD, but if delaying it makes it a better game then so be it.
Comment by uberleet — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:48 pm
My thoughts on the “online mode not available” line, is that they might have dropped an additional online mode from the expansion pack, and this note was meant to be seen internally to remind people that the new mode wasn’t part of the expansion any more.
Certainly the way they implemented the addition of Eliminator always gave me the impression they might be planning to add more game modes in future. Perhaps the new mode didn’t quite make it into the v3 update in time, so they are going to give some cars away free instead?
Comment by Chris Scott — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:48 pm

On topic,

Comment by Geoff — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:58 pm
whoops just re read the list advance research is on there.
@8
All I ask is that SONY release the game GLOBALLY AT THE SAME TIME AS THE US, because by the time they get out here there is no point in buying them because the people in the US have moved on to the next thing.
Take Calling All Cars for instance, I haven’t seen anybody on-line for that game in the last 3 months, if Sony had released the game when the US got it I might have been able to play more people and feel I got my moneys worth, but instead we got the game 6 months later and there is no one to play on-line.
Also 90% of that stuff is FREE, and is on the US store NOW or will be out BEFORE we get it.
I just want to be treated THE SAME as the US, I speak English, I want to give Sony money (lots of money) but instead we get the LAZY, INAPT douche bags that cant even translate a single 256mb game in 1 and a half years (eg Guns Cash and chaos)
Sony keep saying the they are releasing stuff based on local tastes BUT THERE IS NOTHING ON THE EURO STORE THAT IS NOT ALREADY on the US store, so why not make it the same.
I don’t give a shit about motor-storm content because while I own the game, Sony in there infinite wisdom,m have integrated the New Zealand and Australian mototrstorm server in to the euro servers, the problem with that is that the severs are not on the other side of the god dam planet and you euro people LAG like crazy because the Internet in New Zealand is third world.
Comment by Carl Crawford — Nov 1, 2007 @ 2:58 pm
@14
You’ve brilliantly encapsulated the probable reason why Sony don’t tend to reveal release dates for PSN stuff.
If they tell us when things are planned to be released, and then they slip, people will complain.
I’d say it’s quite likely that some of the stuff listed under November will end up being in released in December.

“All I ask is that SONY release the game GLOBALLY AT THE SAME TIME AS THE US, because by the time they get out here there is no point in buying them because the people in the US have moved on to the next thing.”
That may be all you ask, but still you ask too much, I suspect. Games have always come out here later than in the US, and they probably always will do.
“Take Calling All Cars for instance, I haven’t seen anybody on-line for that game in the last 3 months, if Sony had released the game when the US got it I might have been able to play more people and feel I got my moneys worth, but instead we got the game 6 months later and there is no one to play on-line.”
If you want to play Calling All Cars on-line my suggestion would be to head to the official forums and post a thread suggesting a Calling All Cars night on a particular night. That way all the other people who want to play the game will be on-line at the same time that you are.

“Sony keep saying the they are releasing stuff based on local tastes BUT THERE IS NOTHING ON THE EURO STORE THAT IS NOT ALREADY on the US store, so why not make it the same.”
Actually, they haven’t got the three PS Eye games yet, although they might get them this week, I suppose.
The local taste stuff probably mostly covers Japan/Asia since they tend to like very different things to the Western markets. Although given the amount of time that’s passed I suspect that Cash Guns Chaos isn’t going to make the transition from the US store for some reason.

but first:
Still some catch up stuff there - Why are we waiting MONTHS for stuff already on the US store?? Still no answer on this!
But lets get positive for a change!
I’ve got to echo the G-Police collective
I missed it the first time then almost had to change my pants! Some other PSN games we’ve seen trailers for are appearing as well that look fun.
Now if SCEE can keep this rolling, get the past games caught up on and keep the EU side releases close if not at the same time as the US store then we’re going to be grinning!

Comment by s-goat — Nov 1, 2007 @ 4:03 pm
For those in Europe wondering why your PSN content comes later, the answer is simple. SCEA, SCEE, and SCEI all operate separately and handle their own regions. Each region has their own localization process and testing procedure.
Anyway, the reason it takes forever for stuff to come to Europe is that although a game might already be in English, it lacks a language option for French, German, Spanish, Dutch, and so on. And since many PSN games are developed by one of SCEA studios, they are not required to put games in multiple languages from the get go (only English). Once the game is released, SCEA will open it up to other regions to pick the game up. Even SCEI has it easier because all they gotta do is translate a game to Japanese (sometimes Chinese or Korean too), since they don’t have to translate into as many different languages. For those who live in the U.K., it may be a problem because you speak English and may want it now, but SCEE is catering to ALL European markets and must translate for all.
I know the multiple language translation to take a while (Another console company doesn’t require it, and that’s why they struggle outside of the U.K. and Australia) because it’s the entire reason why North America is still waiting on Hot Shots Golf 5/Everybody’s Golf 5, and had to wait a while for Hot Shots Tennis, Ape Escape 3, etc. (because they went to Europe second, and they had to be translated to multiple languages. Once done, all SCEA has to do is remove all the languages except English).
Along with the lengthy translation process, sometimes other bugs are found in the game, so they are fixed before release.

I agree that this is a great way to communicate about upcoming releases. They really went HUGE with this fabulous lineup, lol. I won’t post a list of all the great content I’m the most eager to play (it’ll take up too much space), but instead will wait as patiently as I can, for it to arrive.

Lazy swines! At least organize the lists into demos, vids, add-on content etc. It’s like trying to wade through a bog of old cobblers to find a couple of gems.
And personally, I don’t get excited about being able to download videos of games that have been out and are… how should I say this… a bit crap. (Lair, for example). Sure, put ‘em out there, I’ll watch them, but to tout them as an amazing new forthcoming feature is a bit desperate. At least if they are clearly noted as videos the “meh” effect won’t be so prominent.
And let’s have some more “English only, localized versions to follow”- that doesn’t hurt. If it means you can get content out sooner, just do it. If non-English speakers want to check it out, let ‘em, but give ‘em the option later to get whatever in their own language. It would NOT hurt. Enough people in Europe know enough English to take advantage if this was the case. We’re getting hacked off with waiting for stuff y’know. Show us some LOVE, Sony. It’s been too bloody long.
Comment by Bentley — Nov 1, 2007 @ 6:36 pm
no poker this year, what will that make it like four or five months non americans wont be allowed to buy it?
and tell me now what the excuse for the four month delay for piyotama was when they havent even done any localisation on the thing.
and no takken 2 this year, not sure whether that will make it 7 or 8 months restricted to the us store.
who can honestly still say with straight face that they still feel sony is doing the best they can for europe?

Didn’t mean for that last post to come off so negative. The list of goodies is decidedly goody goody yum yum. But AC is a game I’m yearning for.
Comment by Savage — Nov 1, 2007 @ 8:15 pm
I’m looking forward to a lot of the stuff listed but I wonder if Sony would like to explain why the Ski game is US$3 on the US store and A$13.45 on the Australian store. It is a downloadable game not an import. US$3 = A$3.20. It is a shocking rip off for a game given 2/10 by IGN. I’m really disgusted by the blatant shafting of PAL users. It seems to be across the board too, not just one game. Boo Sony.

@42. If they already have an English version of a PSN game Sony should release that at the same time in Europe and then localise. Don’t wait until the French or whatever version is done, that can come later. Many Europeans speak English as a second language. I’m sure they wouldn’t mind having the choice to download an English version now or their own language later. This business of three different regional stores is a joke, I know of countless people who have three different accounts and use phony credit card addresses. The PSN stores should be integrated into one with regional sections and all prices converted to a standard. Make it happen Sony.

@69 - Except France has some laws about having French text on everything sold in the country, and the EU enforces it. SCEE must provide at the very least French text in everything they offer. That requires time and translation. If you speak English, make a US account. Problem solved.

72. I didn’t hear anybody complaining about price differences when we got LocoRoco for £1.99. The different regions of SCE charge what they deem appropriate, if you think it’s too expensive then don’t buy it. And if there is nothing on that list that interests you at all I have to question why you bought a PS3 in the first place. What were you expecting exactly? If you want Xbox LIVE go and buy an Xbox.

Also if you are not happy with the cost of the PSN games don’t buy them; things are always more expensive in Europe than in America.
