With the introduction of a new 40GB Playstation 3, sales have surged up 178% in the UK, according to sales tracker Chart Track. They also said that last week was the third biggest week in sales for the PS3 yet, only beaten by the first two weeks it went on sale.
The charts reflected this as well: Resistance climbed from 22 back up to 8, Heavenly Sword back up to 14 and Motorstorm from 23 to 18.
Who knows what will happen in the run up to this Christmas, but with games like Uncharted and Haze coming up, it’s not looking bad at all.

In the first of a series of articles, Dazed & Confused technology editor Chris Hatherill looks at how supercomputer design has come full circle…
Once upon a time, supercomputers seemed to be as much about interior design as they were about raw computing power. The massive machines of the early ’60s now stand like statement pieces, with early models like the IBM 7030 housed in galleries like the Musée des Arts et Metiers in Paris. The CDC 6600, which held the record for fastest supercomputer throughout most of the ’60s, came built into its own desk. Minimalist and matte black with the most basic of keyboards, it’s like 2001: A Space Odyssey meets your local library.

According to various sources across the internet, to counter the loss of Monster Hunter 3 on PS3, Capcom are gearing up to make an announcement sometime this week, with some positive news for PlayStation fans on the cards. It all started on the Capcom forums – with a bunch of angry posters complaining about the Monster Hunter 3 cancellation. This was when Christian Svensson, Senior Director of Strategic Planning and Development replied with the following…
“Let’s see how they feel at the end of next week about us.”
Will it be a new exclusive (some people point to a newly trademarked name, “Dead Void”), could it be a currently multiplatform Capcom game going exclusive (Resident Evil 5, Devil May Cry 4) to PS3, or perhaps it’s something else altogether?!

Eidos, developers of upcoming shooter Kane and Lynch: Dead Men, the story of two prisoners on death row awaiting their final sentence, today unveiled the innovative multiplayer mode featured with the game.
The multiplayer mode will be called Fragile Alliance and the objective is to steal the loot and make it to the getaway point. The twist is that you can go rogue on your team mates at any time you want - leave it too late and you’ll not get enough loot, go rogue too early and you might face difficulties picking it up. It’s your call.
The game will be available on UK shores on Friday 23rd November.
Hit the jump for the official full press release.
