On the official Unreal Tournament 3 website Mark Rein, vice president of Epic Games, was quoted saying the following regarding the PS3 release.
“As a public company, Midway felt an obligation to its shareholders to let them know about the possibility of a delay. Our goal is still to get the PS3 version of UT3 in stores before the end of 2007. However, we will only ship it once it’s ready and is the best game we can deliver.”
“In addition, there is some good news, as a little extra time in development means that now the PS3 version will have all of the same maps as the PC version whereas we previously expected to ship a fewer maps on console.”
So, good and bad news I guess. Official statement to follow.
you guys are pretty fast! lol
(thanks for this feedback)

more dev time for a better game is okay with me

I thought he first said those maps were too complex?
So are they ‘as good as the same, but a little less detailed textures to save some memory’ or really ‘all the same’ ?
If the latter is true, what would be the reason for the missing maps in the first place ?

more maps! same as pc version! - sweeeeeeet!
Comment by linton — Oct 3, 2007 @ 5:02 pm
Yay for more maps. Not that there is going to be a shortage after the PC community gets to work

What does this mean for the temporary exclusiveness of the game for the ps3?
Comment by Fantom — Oct 3, 2007 @ 6:02 pm
Sack the project manager!
Comment by Terry — Oct 3, 2007 @ 7:39 pm
@ Fantom - nothing, Mark Rein has said the 360 version hasn’t even started development yet, and won’t do until they’ve done with the PS3 version - so the exclusivity will be just the same, except later (thats if the game is actually delayed).

[...] The good news, he says, is with the extra time the PS3 version will have all the maps the PC version will offer — so complaining is neither here nor there. You can check out the quote on ThreeSpeech in case Mark’s second post gets knocked off the forums again, due to unnecessary flaming on other members’ behalf. In any case, the game has not officially been delayed, but it’s a warning to expect a delay. For extra dev time, though, we don’t really mind. We’ve got a lot to play this holiday season already. but still no ps3/pc online crossover platform like was stated to begin with????
Comment by mrselfdestruct — Oct 3, 2007 @ 10:51 pm
they only said that crossover was possible becouse microsoft where twats to them after gears and they wanted to show them that vista live is the huge pile of burning shit that it actuely is to the rest of the game by aka showing that a feature microsoft charge you £50 a year for can be done for free by any developer who takes the time to do it… unfortunately not them

Why do people think the PS3 version will come out near the xbox release and hence will no longer be a timed exclusive.
You think they will put their efforts into the xbox version now that the PS3 needs some more work? lal, the xbox version will slip even further down the calendar for next yea.
Their priority is to the Sony PS3 version and they aren’t even thinking about the Xbox. I strong feeling on this is it will still be exclusive to PS3 and Xbox will still have to wait.
But this delay about the maps i think is a load of crap personally, they could release the maps in a pack later on.
They just haven’t finished the game yet. Or their crapping their pant’s over COD4 and want to wait more like. They want to sell their maximum amount of stock possible and won’t want to go up against COD4.
It’s all about money…. Shareholders FTL

lol

@linton
You can cross Jericho off your list… that’ll save you some money. I just played the demo and the framerate is awful. Another lousy Xpox port.
Also, many many games have been pushed back until 2008, so there are really very few games worth buying between now and Christmas.
