12. Asking nicely didnt work,

    I tried to find who was incharge of the PSN euro store so I could send them a letter, I ended up wasting $50 on phone calls to SONY Euro HQ and never made it past techniqual support.

    It is clear to me that the people that run this blog are TRYING to get answers but Sony doesn’t what to listen to us because they are ARROGANT, they think they will win on brand alone.

    They wont, I have over 25 PS1 games, 40 PS2 game, and 4 PS3 games. I bought a new high def TV for the PS3 and was greatly anticipating the REGION FREE PS3, but its not really region free.

    I used to be able to avoid giving my money to Sony Europe and companies that released games YEARs after they had been out in America. I though the PS3 would change this, I though we would be on an equal footing with America and japan. BUT it turns out my trust in Sony was taken for-granted again.

    What really pisses me off is the fact they KEEP breaking promise after promise. Please for the love of god get the person that runs the store to come on here and face us and tell us WHY we have to wait, WHY we are treated like second class citizens, WHY they cant even post PICTURES on the store, WHY they said we would have to wait an etra two days for warhawk becuase they wanted to keep updates on a thursday then turn around and have a store update on a friday.

    It might be because of the French, since Americans don’t like the French. It might be because the person that runs the euro store is xenophobic and doesn’t like Germans because they killed his grand dad in world war 2, it might be that the person that runs the euro psn is from Italy (that would explain A LOT if it were the case.

    I want COMMUNICATION with people AT SONY HQ, not some PR person that deosnt even work for SONY. I want to know who is accountable. Someone stand up and tell us what the fuck is going on.

    At the VERY LEAST let us buy stuff ofd the US store with out having to have a billing address in America.

    Good to see the Motorstorm DLC is finally going to arrive - been waiting for that for a long time now.

    There seems to be quite a queue of new stuff which has either been released elsewhere or slated for release but not turned up. I for one, don’t mind getting things later than our US cousins, so long as Sony can start to build up a series of regular updates. Warhawk has brought to an end a very barren period for the PSN store - with no new full games since Nucleus over a month previously!

    Their incompetence is shocking but what’s more irritating is that they don’t feel they have to provide their customers with any answers. They must know how thoroughly pissed of everyone is but they’re just ignoring them. No answers, no apology, no promise to improve things, nothing. It seems they think European PS3 owners are absolute scum who don’t deserve any sort of explanation or a few minutes of their time to upload some content.

28. All those looking for XMB during gameplay will most likely have to wait until the 2.0 update. This will no doubt be aligned with the release of HOME. Perhaps some new themes and screensavers (Loco Roco). When HOME does arrive I suspect more PSN content. Perhaps even a redesign. Text lists could be and option especially over time as new content will be added. Singstar songs, hosts of new game add on’s.

    I suspect in the future the PS Store or through HOME you may be able to purchase physical items, as opposed to downloads. This could open a realm of game extras, figures, posters all sorts.

    Its more complicated than you think. Trailers and videos need to undergo different censorship processes for the country there showing in. Games are published by either SCEE, SCEA or SCEJ depending where you live. Each region of Sony essentially works on its own so getting all three to work in harmony is insane.

    You can’t have everything at once. Sure Sony may have a stock pile of content to put up but doing it all at once is ridiculous. You will be complaining there servers are too slow and there’s nothing for next week. It also depends on when a game is set for release in the territory for the demo. DiRT is available on the 14th so now we have the demo. Ratchet and Clank does not yet have a Europe release date.

33. Let me first say I own both a x360 & PS3. The PS3 has been shitty so far. I bought it months back, for $400.
    No games, the online hopefully will get better. The Playstation store can’t compare to X360’s marketplace. PS3 only updates on Thursday’s (if that). Sony needs to get with it.

    European/Aussie/African/ME territories pay twice the price for this PS3 than the americans and asians do, and yet sony can’t even give us worthy content on PSN.

    I am thoroughly disappointed at sony treating us all like shit.
    I’ve been a sony “fanboy” since the PS1 days, with tons of PS1, and PS2 games in my collection, and I buy this overpriced console to find that I can’t even download Syphon Filter from the store… why? oh wait, because they seem to have completely forgotten about us. It’s been out in the other stores for a long time.

    Whats the point of having a US PSN account when we don’t have a US residential address or credit card to be able to buy content off the US store?

    FU Sony! Your arrogant attitude disgusts me. I don’t care much for the crapbox 180 that dies after a few hours of gameplay, nor do I care for a wii, which is why I bought this console for $1000…

37. Well, I have to agree with Carl’s sentiments, but not his style (I’m sure he’ll be back to normal once he calms down!).

    I look at it this way:
    We’ve paid the highest retail price for the PS3, waited the longest for it to be released, ended up with a crippled version (no hardware emulation), and are constantly short changed with releases on the PSN.

    And you wonder why the silence from Sony is so deafening!

    Has anyone looked into unit sales per territory and compared the sales volume/revenue gained, by the amount of content available in the various PSN’s?

41. Where’s the Skate. Demo? It pisses me off that Sony doesn’t give any answers or statments about what is taking so much time.

    There are tons of demos on the Xbox(from what i understand, i don’t own a box myself) of cross platform games but how come Sony can’t release them? And even more annoying is that the EU customers seem to get EVERYTHING the last. I’m no expert on the subject, but if Microsoft manages to release demos, games, trailers etc. on a global update all at once, why can’t Sony?

    I’ve been awaiting the Skate. demo for 2 weeks now and there’s not a single word about when they’re planning on releasing it either. Why would anyone release demo versions of games that are already finished and on the market for a couple of weeks?

    Seriously, if that’s their strategy Sony is going down in this race.

51. Whilst we’re moaning about the PSN, let’s point a few things out…

    1. It’s just a web page, any body can update web pages these days, why do we have to wait a whole week to get an update?

    2. Why aren’t all the images cached locally? I have to wait for the same Icons and Interface to download everytime I go to the store before I even get to see the couple of new videos that are there.

    3. Why even have any videos on the store that aren’t exclusive when the PS3 has a web browser and most gaming sites with video’s load faster than the store anyway?

    4. The Australian Site has music video’s and the quality of the music in the mpeg 4 is really bad. I tried to show off the great capabilities of my PS3 to friends and everyone groaned at the poor sound quality in these music videos and then asked why the game and movie videos weren’t in surround sound? So if you are going to post video, why is the sound stereo and poor quality?

52. Meh.. should’ve got a 360, then I’d have Puzzle Fighter HD, as well as a much bigger games library. It’s not their fault there aren’t many games out, but jesus come on, they could do so much better with the european PSN… The only good thing about PS3’s online side is Warhawk, and even that is just a slightly dumbed-down BF2 XP

    In the time it takes to check PS1 and PS2 games for compatability, someone could have made an image of the disk to be uploaded to the PSN store.

55. It’s pretty simple to create extra accounts to access free content on other regions PS Store … Stop complaing … Japan PS Store dosen’t have much more than EU, yeah US got a DiRT demo a few weeks earlier, but they also get the full game earlier.

    A few weeks ago you were all complaining, then Sony release Warhark, and now a few days later you complaining you can’t play a 2D puzzle game you could’ve played on your PSone … Sure more demos would be great, but it seems as though some people will never be satisfied (btw the AU PS Store has a heep of free music videos which I don’t see on Japan or US Store - And Japan Store dosen’t always get regular updtaes.

57. I the same as you guys, am really not happy with the content and feel that Sony are challenging me to put up my PS3 on ebay. I’m only holding on this month due to games like fifa,stranglehold,heavenly sword. I would just like to add what was the fecking point of Warhawk beta testing? they have got it completly wrong. Game is fantastic when it works, whats rubbish is the stats don’t save and can take upto 45 mins to find a game to connect to only for the hos to drop out and end the game 10 mins later so frustrating. For those wanting to make a complaint to Sony I advise you contact the number on the following link in we blast them with a load of calls it my get them thinking, alternatively maybe we should set up a website petition which we could e-mail a link to through the players met list on the PS3???

58. I would just really like to know when Tekken Online is coming to EU, because I’m pining for it. This is my favorite fighting game and I can’t wait to play it online!

    I sometimes wish we were given the option to buy English language versions vs International language versions. Believe it or not but a lot of us really couldn’t care less if we can play a game in our native language.

64. What does it take for SCEE to keep the ONLY official backwards compatibility list up-to-date? 1.80 was a while ago. They tell us to look to the site, but the site’s so bloody poorly maintained.

    I’d find the idea of regional autonomy with Sony easier to understand if we actually had a selection of (for example) PS1 games for our region, but we don’t. Then since the few that did come out went in for bug testing, its like someone opened a rift and swallowed them up. No news of Wipeout 2097 either. Could you, Threespeech create a poll to request, and give SCEE an idea of the games WE’D like in OUR selection? That would be helpful. Instead, we get the poor bits from the US lineup…Which is lame. Some companies try to explain it on install base - but of course, we know that Sony doesn’t have that cop-out this time. Support the fans or be ready for even them to lose interest.

    Come on, I know it is annoying that we are so far behind the American and Japanese PS Stores (and believe me I am no less pissed off about it than you) but how is that different to any other time in the history of games? Europe has ALWAYS been behind America and Japan! I was hoping that would change with downloadable games as it should be so easy for them to release thing simultaneously worldwide, but we are just going to have to accept our place as 3rd most important region when it comes to games!     No statements, not a word about what’s going on and it looks like they don’t care either since they refuse to say anything.

    Its not just the store i’m fed up with its the whole Sony customer service. They never answer our queries and the store is just a neglected reflection of this.

    Believe it or not I bought a PS3 as I saw beyond the games to the future potential of this generation i.e its ability to link people in ways never done before. Home is the solution to this but nobody says when it will be released or even give us any details about it.

    Sometimes I wish maybe we did have to pay for this service, at least then we would have more rights. Instead we got charged through the roof in buyign the system for a free service which I believed would be of a high standard.

    The difference is that in any other time in history I could import games from the USA so I didn’t have to put up with the arrogance of SCEE. The situation has now changed and there is no way to import Playstation store games leaving SCEE’s crappy service as the only option.

    While SCEE’s service is terrible the people who are to blame for this situation continuing are the people who continue to buy products from them. Most Europeans simply buy whatever crap product the console developers sell to them. For years people were buying shoddy PAL conversions that ran 17.5% slower than their intended speed and ran with big boards (and PAL Wii owners are continuing to do it with the virtual console games). Everyone happily bought the PAL GameCube with no progressive scan games. They bought the PAL Xbox with component video output disabled. They bought the PAL PS3 with no emotion engine and therefore poor backward compatibility. It’s utter stupidity!

    I’ve always import US consoles and games and so have always enjoyed games that run at their intended speed and occupy the full screen. With the PS3 I enjoy complete backward compatibility with all my US Playstation and PS2 games thanks to the emotion engine. I also paid less for the US console than it would cost to buy in the UK.

    Despite the option to import superior, lower price US consoles with superior games available for a lower price and at an earlier time people in the UK have continued to buy over priced, cut down, delayed PAL consoles. If you keep buying the shit that’s sold in the UK they’ll keep selling it to you and the situation won’t improve.

    It’s time to show some backbone and to stop taking this crap. The only way you’re going to get SCEE to listen is to stop buying their products. Start importing all your games from the US (which will save you money) and don’t buy a single thing from the EU Playstation Store.

    I’m already importing my games and I have already decided that on principle I won’t be buying a thing from the UK Playstation Store. If everyone did the same then it wouldn’t be long before SCEE were forced to sort themselves out. Sadly I have little hope anyone else will join in. Like fools you’ll probably just buy Super Puzzle Fighter and Tekken Online when it’s realised, sending out the message to Sony that you’re perfectly happy with their current service. They’ll keep selling you delayed, over priced crap and you’ll just keep buying it and nothing will change.

117. You guys expecting Sony to drop in-game XMB on your lap are misunderstanding how the system works. XMB features must be enabled by the devs on a game by game basis. The option to do this is available now, which is why some games like RFOM provide access to the XMB friends list. Unfortunately it uses a load of memory that devs usually need for other things, which is why XMB features are not available in many games released so far. Sony are currently working to reduce the memory requirements of key aspects of the XMB, but some games will simply never feature XMB access, no matter how much you all bitch and moan.

126. Don’t get why they can’t manage to fart out the demos and content people are waiting for. XBL manages apparently(sp?) so why can’t PSN or SCEE or whoever the fuck is doing it, do it?

     Waiting for the Skate. demo personally.

     It’s impossible to not have seen the critique they’ve gotten for it unless they’re a) blind and shouldn’t be working where they work in the first place or b) hiding in an enclosed compound guarded by angry Sony guards who’s telling them to stop doing what the gamers want and continue releasing some shitty trailer no one is going to download since they’ve already seen it on gametrailers or smth :X

132. I know it’s not ideal, but would it not be easier for Sony to allow those that want to, to have their credit card / debit card registered to the other regions, after all it’s not like we can’t use our cards to buy from Amazon.COM (I’m in the UK)

     Well surely it should be possible to have your credit details stored globally however it would still be simpler to just launch a global store which is something I dont understand why Sony don’t do to be honest. I apreciate different languages and rating etc but surely different countries could apply filters to a global store to determine what appears and doesn’t. I don’t mean to offend my european neighbours by saying this but I speak English so I don’t see why we should be held back while said French, German etc versions are piled out.

     Finalllllllly…

     Can someone tell me what 1.92 actually did, I’ve not noticed any changes?

134. Apparently 1.92 is an update for the Americans, it allows more PS2 games to be played on the PS3. The downside is, it’s messed up everyone else. There has been lost of reports since the update that PAL games that DID work, no longer do. Also there has been quite a few network issues for European gamers since the update.

     Thankfully i don’t seem to have been affected by it.

135. I’m very satisfied with the Playstation 3 hardware. It’s well built, and reliable. On a side note, my Xbox 360 already died four times. Playstation Network offers good online gameplay and it’s free! It’s really a shame that the European store is being put aside. Just look at the weekly US store updates!! We can praise ourselves lucky when we’ll get two or three old trailers. They get a bunch of NEW movie and game trailers, wallpapers and demo’s. Why is there such a big difference? Is it because of the localisation? Localisation is probably the reason why games are getting delayed for a couple of weeks in Europe. The extra space on Blu-ray Discs are used by devs for localisation. English is an international language, first world language. Why make all those exceptions for the French, Germans, Italians? No offence! Still, Microsoft hasn’t got any problems with this matter? Almost all games and demo’s are globally released. Sure, the US marketplace has got more trailers, which we can’t download from the EU. But at least they are treating their user base the same. Not like: two trailers for the EU, 10 trailers, two demo’s and some downloadable content for the US, and a bunch of PS1 games for Asia.

     Please pass our comments along to the people who can change the way thing are going right now. European customers are left in the cold….
