Any idea what the Aus price will be? Should be about $50 based on exchange rates, right?
Comment by hugZ — Aug 21, 2007 @ 1:38 pm
Just out of curiosity, (heck, I’m gonna buy it either way), why is the Blu Ray version out 3 weeks later than the PSN version? Does it take that long to put the headsets in the box?? Still, nice to have a ’soon’ release to look forward to!
Comment by Mugsy Balone — Aug 21, 2007 @ 1:40 pm
£40 is bit silly really,i know its a normal game, but it comes 3 weeks later than the PSN version..thats one reason to have it cheaper, and its an online game only, thats another reason to have it cheaper…but £40 is a full price game
dissapointed
Comment by metallicorphan — Aug 21, 2007 @ 1:41 pm
I will be getting the retail version because i need a headset and this looks like a great deal, a little dissapointed over the three delay i hope those who download it dont get too good during this time….. got GRAW2 to tide me over though…..
Comment by Nathaniel — Aug 21, 2007 @ 1:42 pm
Because it’s bundled with a bluetooth headset, worth €39,99.
It’s a very good price for both versions.
Comment by ZeroY — Aug 21, 2007 @ 1:45 pm
Great pricing. £40 with a headset is a great deal (with some stores still selling 3rd party PS3 titles at £49.99).
£20 for a download version is great too.
Comment by Tony Nibbles — Aug 21, 2007 @ 1:57 pm
which version will be better? I already have a headset so is their any other benefit to buying blu ray version over download
Comment by Akhtar — Aug 21, 2007 @ 2:06 pm
£50 is a full price game, judging by existing PS3 releases. If it retails for £40 then I’m sure you’ll be able to get it cheaper than that from some stores (particularly on-line). Also the boxed version does come with additional content and a headset. It will be up to individuals to decide if they value having it on disc, with extras and a headset enough to wait.
I would like to applaud Sony for not holding back the downloadable version while they manufacture the discs and get them out to retail. The PS3 is in need of quality titles as soon as possible, so it’s good to see that Sony have recognised this.
Comment by Chris Scott — Aug 21, 2007 @ 2:13 pm
Well, obviously once done you can trade it in - you can’t do that with a PSN version…
Comment by Tony Nibbles — Aug 21, 2007 @ 2:17 pm

What the hell $120 dollars for a first party title that is only online muiltyplayrer, fuck you sony. Resistance was only $98.
Comment by carl — Aug 21, 2007 @ 3:53 pm
Thanks.
Please remember to always give release dates and prices for Europe too, not only for the UK, because other EU countries don’t have official Sony blogs like this.

The box version is only £32 in most places online but I am not waiting three weeks.
Comment by sarge mat — Aug 21, 2007 @ 5:44 pm
This has been the best news for the UK PS3 owners in a long while…. Cannot wait. I’ve booked the day off work.
28th August… I just cannot wait!!! WARHAWK!!!

I think that the download will be available worldwide on Aug 28th, so yes.

I don’t think Sony need to be applauded for releasing the PSN version early. They know damn well they need games out there and fast! =)
I hope Warhawk is good. I’m a bit skeptical. The game obviously had some serious development problems. A three year development with a written-off / discarded single-player mode that turns out to be approx 800MB of game… It seems to me as if the original design docs went out the window!

Yes you can trade it in, but if you pay £40 for the disc version, you’d need to get at least £20 trade-in, otherwise it would just be cheaper to get the download and not trade it in.
Also, if you get the download, you don’t need to get off your arse to swap discs whenever you want to play it!
Bonus!

Duh.

hmm…..Sounds like Sony are pretty keen to get us to buy the game online. No dice. I’m waiting.
Comment by russ — Aug 22, 2007 @ 6:08 am
One more thing. Is this not the right time for Sony to put little PS3 stickers on the side of these headsets, and start flogging them as ‘OFFICIAL’ headsets, and bundling them in ps3 boxes. Let’s get everyone talking!
Mind you, if my experiences with the awful 360 headset, and with my ultra-cheap tesco headset are anything to go by, I’m waiting an extra week to check that the Jabras actually work properly.

[...] ThreeSpeech has the scoop on the European release dates for Warhawk. We have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that the downloadable version will be available on the same day as in America. The 28th of August. The bad news is that the retail version won’t be available until the 21st of September. [...]
Pingback by Sourfizz » Warhawk finally dated for Europe — Aug 22, 2007 @ 10:52 pm
Seems a pretty lame reason to delay release of the title. Wonder what the REAL reason is? Guess we’ll never know.
For all you Euros, Best Buy here in Canada is selling the Blu-ray version, with the headset, for Cdn$39.99 That’s like $35-odd American, whatever in Euros. A lot cheaper than 40 pounds I’d imagine… (Best Buy owes me a royalty on each one sold to you guys. … well, they should). Ground shipping to my address here in Canada was a whole $2 more
