It takes the guys of GT5 something like 8 months per car for modeling. There are surface texture differences, and other such now visual things which take up the 8 months. Maybe instead of waiting ~4 years per game, Polyphony will publish the initial game and use $ or something such as achievement points (already a rumored future PS3 addition) to get new vehicles and tracks. In fact that sounds like 10x as many as would be realistic for a full retail game. I would even say that game might have less then 70 given the amount of time it takes per-vehicle.
