Oh well, I’ll be busy playing Bioshock Demo over and over again anyway.
Would be nice to have something extra on ym Ps3 though. Not much out until Unreal tournament in November, well, maybe Warhawk and Heavenly Sword…..

I almost bought Dirt for the 360 yesterday, why are we having to wait longer for games that are already out on the “other” system. I’m fed up with Sony treating us like this. Its almost like theyve got our money now they dont care.
Armored core is already on the 360 isnt it yet all we get is demos, its not even meant to be that good anyhow. As for Heavenly Sword, yes it looks amazing and I want it but I dont want to see “making ofs” I want to play it.
When is wipeout HD coming out, we keep get given these videos but nobody seems to know when its ever coming out! Also, people keep saying the system is still young, it came out 6 months ago and theres still only a handful of games most of which are not much good.
The only decent game of summer in my opinion was the Darkness, finished that now, now what do I do - watch an overpriced Blueray movie perhaps..?
Comment by Terry — Aug 16, 2007 @ 10:44 am
What is the reason for this? Do we get an explanation? Usually, the early buyers are supposed to buoy enthusiasm over a console, which through word-of-mouth encourages others to check it out. I’m not feeling too buoyant about PS3 while you keep neglecting existing owners.
Wasn’t there a Piyotama puzzle game released in the US last week. Why haven’t they posted that, this? I look forward to PSN update day, for what exactly? Another week my console isn’t going on, then. SONY, while you don’t show your console any support, I can’t be bothered to switch it on. Do you really enjoy learning that lesson, financially?
Comment by GleeDemon — Aug 16, 2007 @ 10:46 am
Never in my 25 years of gaming have i been so frustrated and bored with a console. How long do we have to wait for SOMETHING, ANYTHING to actually get released? And in the meantime, where are the demos? Where is poker? Where is snakeball? Where is Puzzle Fighter? Where is …….
zzzzzz………..
Comment by russ — Aug 16, 2007 @ 10:57 am
Though, I’ll be downing the next part of the H. Sword prologue series, as I haven’t seen it yet!
It’s a shame LBP is a ways off yet, as that’s something that could be added to regularly, and that I’m sure people will spend a LOT of time playing and working with. Perhaps we need a competitive racer on the Store? That would last ppl a while.
Comment by GleeDemon — Aug 16, 2007 @ 10:57 am
I sincerely hope you are kidding.
The armoured core demo was on Playstation Official Magazine’s disk at the start of August! and what’s more it was crap.
Whoo Hoo another shamless flogging of Heavenly Sword through the medium of pointless videos.
the shop I bought my PS3 from won’t take it back unless there is something wrong with it.
If I phone the PS3 helpline will they take my PS3 back and refund my cash? I really hope so as I have totally had it with this crap.
Comment by Tony Capone — Aug 16, 2007 @ 11:05 am
Why is it the PSN is still crap after 1 year, Sony will never ever be able to compete with XBL if they stick to this kind of half-baked marketing and crappy updates. Microsoft understand what the public wants, and they give it to them, UPDATES, when they are ready, not once a week, if a demo is ready and can be put on the XBL it will be. What do Sony do, wait so they can do 1 crappy update per week and hope the public will be happy.
I think that the PS3 at the moment is the worst console with the worst content and the worst line up of games.( i mean crappy ports)
I really do hope things get better otherwise i’ll have to trade my PS3 in for an XBOX 360.
Comment by Katana — Aug 16, 2007 @ 11:07 am
Oh quit moaning, i think alot of you forget about previous gaming consoles, such as the 360, which had stupdily little for months after release. People cant develop demos overnight you know.
If this is meant to be a problem, then i wonder what the situation with a certain rival consoles failure rate is? I know which problem i’d rather face from my chosen product
Comment by Darren Nugent — Aug 16, 2007 @ 11:11 am
It’s a bloody demo, what more do you want FFS?!!!? All you morons do is whine. Jeez… I’m sick of you uptight complainers, weren’t people asking for a demo? There it is, play till your heart’s content. It’s a third party demo as well!
Comment by Charlie — Aug 16, 2007 @ 11:32 am
@Darren Nugent
True I understand the frustration that the 360 failure rate has caused. Originally before the PS3 was delayed I was holding out, but upon delay I gave up and bought a second hand 360… then as you mention I got the hardware failure thing go on. It laid broken for a good few months until Microsoft extended the warranty to three years. Now I have both consoles, one of which needs to ideally go to be honest.
You say you would rather have a console with nothing on it than a machine which yes has its faults but at least has a lineup of quality content?
I bought a PS3 because I bought what Sony said about the whole “true next generation” thing, truth is none of that is on the horizon & there has been little to reward those of us who came onboard from day one. I’m glad they didnt bring in the price cuts as rightly so that would have really annoyed a lot of people.
I understand the console is new, but considering how it was delayed I expect a lot more to be going on. The PS3 was delayed for a year, roughtly, if it had come out when orginally stated we would now be 18 months in and still without Gran Turismo, Resident Evil, Metal Gear, Wipeout PS3, Devil May Cry, Tekken 6… the big killers basically. THESE SHOULD HAVE BEEN LAUNCH TITLES!!
This generation has gone a bit weird. 360 has the games and features but unreliable hardware, PS3 potentially has the technology for amazing things but lacks suppport and Wii has the “fun” element but lacks the technology.
The PSN needs a massive overhaul, I work within the internet industry and as everyone who has a slight interest in it will know it is evolving big time. Scrap PSN and bring out Home and put everything and more on there. Movies, games, community applications etc.
Sorry for the rant, but we demand more!

Yeah, but PS3 has been out almost a whole year now!
Why can’t we get XBL on the PS3… Streets of Rage 2, all the demos of upcoming(!) games - not the ones already released, etc.

Comment by metallicorphan — Aug 16, 2007 @ 11:39 am
O.k Darren, you make a valid point about development time and failure rates on the 360, but by this time on the 360, they had the killer app…namely Gears of War. And with the PS3 being so much more expensive , people feel even more screwed when they don’t get what they paid for.
I think we all know, whats going on. Microsoft are throwing billions at developers to release 360 games before PS3.
So we get told “Sorry, but the PS3 is harder to develop for than the 360″
Balls! Microsoft gave you a fat wadge to delay it!
And it’s also Sony ’s fault for not stumping up the cash and getting cocky and relying on their name as well.
Six O’ One and and half O’ dozen of the other!
Get it together Sony!

I love getting home from work turning on my 40″ Bravia and looking at my piccies from my holidays or the kids and then slotting in Apocolypto on blu ray disc to watch and then going online to order a pizza and all this if a have time when I’m not playing motorstorm or resistance or stardust or blast factor………Come on guys/gals quit moaning, you’re all sounding like spoilt kids

True, its more than a games machine but you can order a pizza off the internet and fair play your blueray movie may be clearer but can you justify the extra cost of buying it? I can’t i’m affraid, not until they bring costs down. Motorstorm and Resistance were launch games and the others you mention are downloadable, they are fun to play granted but not justifiable of the 400 quid I shelled out for the PS3. In this world if you dont demand things you dont get them, its a sad fact I know. If that makes me a spoilt kid then so be it, but i’m feeling a little deprived by sony at the moment!

I will be trying to return my PS3 but I am not buying any of the “next gen” consoles as they are all a lot of overhyped nonsense.
I must admit though my PS3 is BRILLIANT for keeping my DVDs and CDs and books from falling over if you use it at the end of them to prop them up.
Just what I always wanted, a £425 book end.
I hope Sony goes bust or everyone connected to SCEE get sacked.

I am a little dissappointed myself in the lack of entertaining content on PSN currently. But the fact of the matter is that they are about to launch full force “HOME” a huge infastructure. This is when PSN will be our “XBOX LIVE”. No more will we have to shop on such an ugly design for an online store. There are such big things coming to this system that stretch far beyond weekly demos and vids. Plus Warhawk is being released by the end of this month so thats going to definitely be downloaded by thousands. Iremember back in the early PS2 days where it was just peanuts in game releases for months, not to mention the early 360 days. Even within a year xbox live did not have much content, it was only till gears of war launched when you really started to see a lot of stuff on that system. Hell none of that Tv show stuff or movies on demand stuff appeared untill this year. This is the 3rd year cycle on xbox , we are not even through with a full year on PS3. Be patient and you will be more than satisfied.

There are a hell of a lot of people out there REALLY worried about the SingStar release date.
It was stated as August 24th release date in Europe, November 13th in the U.S.
Play.com have now changed that date to be another month away.
Can you please post some news on SingStar - the official SingStar blog on IGN said it was wrapping up the game back in June and there are a lot of people out there highly anticipating this game.

Wouldn’t hold out for Home or Warhawk anytime soon. Has anything on the PS3 managed to hit its release date yet? We’ll probably get Home right after Xbox owners get Home2, even then it’ll be a cut-down port.
Comment by FredUp — Aug 16, 2007 @ 2:01 pm
well great im so pleased sony really need to start sorting the ps3 out or it will be marked in history as the dreamcast 2.0. and with all the big thirdparty games going multiplatform or 360 only i think we need to go and exchange consoles soon before game realise they would have no chance of shifting preowned ps3’s. dont get me wrong i have been a playstation fan for ages and want it to do well lets just hope they spend money to keep metal gear and final fantasy exclusives as i will b taking sony to court for stress and false advertising ig the ps3 fails lol
Comment by tonymac — Aug 16, 2007 @ 2:03 pm
Yes the best “current” game system is Xbox because of those fantastic titles…….but when developers grow some balls and actually utilize the PS3 hardware…….PS3 will be the best next gen system. Great graphics aren’t they only thing to make a system next generation. Do realize PS3’s are being used as Warhawk servers !!. Thats pretty damned powerful. As for titles….xbox has got those next gen titles 1st party games just this year, the first year titles were mediocre in the 1st year of xbox in comparison to this. That 3 years of development. Alot of titles realeased on PS3 were only in a 1 year dev cycle as the members of Tiburon who stated they had a harder time devloping this year’s Madden when they worked on the 360 for 3 years. Not to mention Pete Moore’s magical transition to EA prez. See the storm is brewin here for Sony while other companies boast of their strengths, but you have little ol Sony that will exploit their weaknesses. Let Sony reach that 3rd year thenwe can compare titles and such. You realease on a 10 point both Sony and Micrsoft recieve an avg of 6.6 on games reviewed with xbox havingmore titles than sony . But they are equal. They are even equal on games scored higher than 6 points with an avg of 8.1. There is only like a .1 difference between them. Now imagine if the library is as large as Microsoft. Average out game review scores at IGN. (even tho they are biased to xbox) The thing that hurts the avg on 360 and why it can’t be a higher avg is because of releasing too many crap titles on both “LIVE” and console games. This is based on 256 reviewed games on xbox vs 90 reviewed games on PS3
Comment by Batman333 — Aug 16, 2007 @ 2:08 pm
SONY should shut down the online store for now.
People are comparing it to the Xbox360 - which has been out for 3 1/2 years and naturally there will be some very - negative - feelings.
We are not paying monthly fees for PSN, but Im willing to do so if SONY delivers real content (DEMOS) on regular basis.
Its extremely frustrating that some DEMOS ( Lair ) have been out for months and reviewed by magazines and we don’t get a chance even to BUY them!
Comment by Mad M2000 — Aug 16, 2007 @ 2:08 pm
PS3 could never suffer the fate of Dreamcast as Sega couldn’t keep up with technology when PS2 announced the dvd era. Cheaper DVD player vs a game station……not techy. Now they are continuing the trend with Bluray and yes….people want bluray. Not to mention that bootleged games killed the Dreamcast. the first xbox was simply sold because of halo gamesdoa, ninja gaiden and bootlegs. Granted you had xbox live gamers(which is what brought microsoft into the picture after being dominated by sony.) Now Microsoft is actually developing “real” content and can sell their games this time, while making money through Live.(which you have to pay for evey year)

A rushed Madden…..ummmm Tiger Woods….Oh ya that awesome Perfect Dark Zero……360 had a lackluster launch as well. It honestly didnt get Gen till….GRAW(the first one) on 360. Even in the first year of 360….people were still playing friggin Halo 2 on 360’s xbox live because there wasn’t anything to play…..oh ya and Call of Duty 2. That was 360’s high calibur launch titles.

For god sake give us some demos of games we will actually buy not ones that have been stood in the shops gathering dust as thre not even worth buying to prop your doors open with.
FW Update or Demo Update but something.
Comment by Richard — Aug 16, 2007 @ 2:32 pm
problem is that:
a poor, buggy demo will, WITHOUT QUESTION, reduce sales of the game.
that is a fact.
no matter how many beta, alpha, demo stickers you put all over it there will be a percentage of people that wont buy it on the strength of a demo.
on the flipside, you lot ( including me ) will probably buy Lair regardless of getting hold of a demo first.
so, why release a demo? when there is dollar at stake devs and publishers do not care about a few hours of free enjoyment for a few playstationheads.
Comment by d33p — Aug 16, 2007 @ 2:40 pm

Sonys had more than enough time to get this sorted, now they are becoming a joke.
Comment by Alisdair Comb — Aug 16, 2007 @ 2:44 pm
Yes, a poor buggy demo will indeed reduce sales of a game.
Better to not bother with a demo, get the public to spend £50 on something that they cant experience beforehand, then when it turns out that the game is poor and buggy anyway it doesn’t matter.

I would also like to know why Three Speech said (a few weeks ago) we would be getting Ridge Racer and Tekken 2(PS1 games)? They are yet to appear on the store. I think it’s a little early to be damning Sony for a lack of content - considering that it’s a good year behind the 360, is it any surprise that there isn’t as much content available? I’m sure, 12 months down the line, when there’s Home and Warhawk and the like, that the PSN will be a more substantial online environment for PS3 owners to enjoy!

2. Do you care, in the slightest, if you have the best selling console of this generation?
3. Why did you release a console that obviously wasn’t ready to be released i.e. didn,t have any games coming out for it for months.
These are the reasons people need demo or PSN games, because we need to feel that our purchase was justified

I just don’t get it…
Why have we europeans to pay 30% more…
for less content, to be the last to get demos, games and stuff?
c’mon sony europe, this is just annoying!

i’m wondering if sony cares that my PS3 hasn’t been turned on for a month for anything ecept looking to see if there are new demo’s?
i see someone from sony boasting that the failure rate for PS3’s is so low, but does he realise it’s because we have no reason to turn them on?
you take hundreds of euro off your faithful followers and repay their dedication with so little.
and no, we don’t want to play any more PSone (and older) games thank you very much!

I think Sony’s shooting themselves in the foot. Why not just stick stuff on the PSStore when it’s ready (and no mention of Medievel, Spyro)?
Here I am waiting around for thursday to arrive, and then disappointment. Another week without Ratchet and Clank demo
I think the PSStore and the console should be evaluated separately. Full games on the console take years to develop. I can wait for those.
But the PSStore should be filled with stuff: game demos, full movies, music, TV episodes, wallpapers. Some stuff you pay for, some is free. But nobody visits an empty shop!
Why not just admit - Sony - that Home is what it’s all about and PSStore was just a quick hack while we wait?
Comment by Icebear3 — Aug 16, 2007 @ 6:15 pm
If they’d made it properly backwards compatible like the US and Japanese PS3s we wouldn’t be having to pay AGAIN for Playstation 1 games we already bought 10 years ago.
Not content with fleecing us this generation they feel the need to rip us off for games from 2 generations ago.
All the PS1 games should be free.
I’m not kidding or trying to scaremonger but I think SCEE are going to be in serious trouble.

No worries - I’m still busy trying to get a score in the top 1000 on Super Stardust.

No Demos from Skate, madden,R & C,everybodys golf (which is months out in japan),only months old stuff from the US,while the Japan have a toon version of home with some kittens, which you can dress,
or all the things which comes with the official Playstation magazine anyway…
I don’t give a rats ass about the German/French language, and millions with me,so stop wasting time translating it for the illiterate out there

OK three speech- I wouldnt “shoot the digital messenger” as you put it, but I would hope that you in your capacity as “digital messenger” could communicate to Sony the vast disappointment and growing disillusionment that I am feeling regarding the PSN. The things I want (to give Sony money for!!!) are:
Loads of PS1 games to download (preferably play tested to ensure they work on the borked Euro PS3 with its missing emotion engine chip)
PSN original games -where is Blast Factor Advanced Research? -MIA 2 weeks now!
Demos
The DLC for games such as Motorstorm
Game trailers
The last 2 weeks have done massive damage and I would like to see something done about it fast. Who is in charge of the PSN? and how do they respond to mine and MANY others criticism that is levelled at them? Why is such an incredible resource such as the PSN seemingly being squandered week after week- All that PS1 content that could be filling in the time before the AAA disk based titles start to hit -generating the publishers and Sony money?
Why is castlevania SotN not available for European PS3 audiences? and lastly please tell them no more ghost rider trailers - it sucks like armoured bore 4.

Get the firing squad…
I’ll be honest I didn’t read the majority of the posts above, life’s too short to read people complain. So was I happy with todays update…. yes and no. Yes that we got the Heavenly Sword videos in HD, no in that the Euro store still lags behind the rest of the stores. Come on guys you don’t have to translate wallpapers, what gives??
Comment by Bound — Aug 16, 2007 @ 8:58 pm
Nothing new here.
sony really just dint give a sh*t about the EU do they..
Pay more
Wait more
Get less.
Comment by Ricky — Aug 16, 2007 @ 9:06 pm
Also i wouldent care about the store that much but the extreme lack of games is just stupid.
And demos are out there on other stores.. content is out there.
SO WHERE IS IT ON THE EU STORE SONY!
rick- upset ps3 owner:(
Comment by Ricky — Aug 16, 2007 @ 9:07 pm
That’s IT??? Where’s the damn Tekken online patch???
Comment by ResistanceAddict — Aug 16, 2007 @ 9:31 pm
I hope Sony read this or at least get informed of the state of play. How about proving us wrong and providing a massive load of content next week…. otherwise expect more of this. f you want to win me over, give us Wipeout HD, now!
Comment by Terry — Aug 16, 2007 @ 9:32 pm
I wonder why PS3 demos that come out for 360 too but atm 360 has the demos and the PS3 dont, the 360 has more trailers and demos in 1 day then the PS3 has in 1 month
Comment by Gary — Aug 16, 2007 @ 10:28 pm
Well, since it’s not on the AUS Store, just go get the stuff from the US store, like pitoyama!! I sure did.
Still , what is the reason that its not out in europe? Surely there should be one worldwide store, with tailored content for each region if you want it.
If sony really supports region free gaming then why not?
Comment by phonicpod — Aug 16, 2007 @ 10:56 pm
@charlie #18.
I already downloaded the armoured core demo from the US store months ago, and it is CRAP, and WE have every right to complain and demand more. Sony have got to get their act together, and real soon otherwise peps are gonna jump on the bioshock ship.

@Alisdair Comb
Noticed you said after a year………..Guess what PS3 is still in the first year only to have great titles well ummmmm AFTER A YEAR
MGS4, Little Big Planet, Major 3rd party titles, Drakes…..the list is only growing. Hate all you want Sony has nothing to lose and everything to gain. The sony library is vastly improving month to month. By March of next year Sony will be the big picture again
Comment by Batman333 — Aug 17, 2007 @ 8:12 am
Well as for delays….. I’d rather see delays than rushed games Like dirt for 360……PS3 releases it 3 months after the 360 version….and walla a much more clean and tighter version of the game !!!!. Yes the Euro PSN store is trash atm but in due time when HOME is released things will smooth out. Gamers now a days are soooo spoiled, I remeber all those months playing the pre order demo to FF7 before it was released. Now you can just grab a quick demo online before a release. Quite frankly I think demos are a double edged sword because if no one is playing it or finds it mediocre, it will not sale…..loook at Overlord . I remeber looking at just the videos to Rockstar table tennis thinking it was a fantastic game without having to play a demo of it. I remeber when everyone expected Motorstorm to suck because of the frame rate in the demo….but When it was released it was nice and polished, better frame rate. Demos are only a tool to gauge intrest. for some people, they are spoiled by demos and have no desire to buy the games. Honestly the people who bitch about demos not being out or released are people who own like 2 games for the next gen systems and won’t support the devs by purchasing….you want everything free ! Honestly how many xbox live arcade titles do you own ?????? Hardly any cuz you just get your fix off demos. I have friends admit they would never buy these games…but would damn sure download it. Xbox boasts several millions in downloaded content but they won’t tell you how many people are actually purchasing it.
Comment by Batman333 — Aug 17, 2007 @ 8:26 am
@Batman333
You say games are rushed on 360 such as Dirt, yeah it has issues with framerates but I bet you all the money you want they will be in the PS3 version too. This isnt about taking time to iron bugs its because Microsoft pay big money to cripple the PS3 lineup and Sony dont seem to care, otherwise theyd be offering more to do the same to 360.
Comment by Terry — Aug 17, 2007 @ 9:41 am
Sorry but I’m not one that’s worried at all. I ONLY have 2 games for my PS3 - Motorstorm & Oblivion - and I haven’t completed either yet. So I’m in no rush for loads more releases yet. All the talk about those killer games being launch titles is plain stupid. Imagine you did have MGS4, GTA IV, KillZone 2, Devil May Cry 4, Warhawk, Gran Turismo 5 all out at launch time. Which would you buy? You all complain at the high price of the PS3 as it is, but if you had 6 launch titles of this nature and wanted them all, you’d be parting with another £250 - £300 straight away! Personally I’m happy to carry on with the games I have and also play the PS2 games that I’ve not completed yet as well (like Tomb Raider Anniversary and the last Prince of Persia) and also go back to playing some of my older fun PS2 games as well which all work.
And I can use the PS3 to watch Bluray, DVD’s, surf the web from my sofa rather than having to go into my office and quickly view all my holiday pictures too. It’s not just a games console. It’s still the cheapest quality Bluray player out there.
Hopefully my Xmas I’ll have finished my games that I’ve got and there’ll be a couple more I can buy which should keep me going for another 6 months (because that’s all I tend to buy). After all the PS3 should be a year old by then and historically with ALL consoles (X360, PS2 included) the best games start coming out around then.
Also by then a few more quality Bluray movies should be out - because that department is lacking more than the games in my opinion. It takes days to complete a game, a movie only takes 2 hours to watch and I’d really like to see movies like Star Wars & Lord of the Rings coming on to Bluray now.
Oh incidentally I used to have a PS2, then a X360 so I’m used to all the big consoles. The PS2 was MORE disappointing at launch than the PS3. I got mine at Xmas in 2000 and it didn’t have any high quality games until Xmas 2001. I used it for DVDs and PS1 games. I found the Xbox 360 launch titles extremely boring as well. I hated Xbox live - I’m not going to pay for that service that I may use once a month - and found the whole system annoying. At least with PSN when I log in I can see what’s new straight away and log out if there’s nothing there. And what’s with the points system??… As for games on XBox, I’m not a fan of all these FPS and I never liked Gears of War. The only shooter I like is SOCOM and guess what, that’s on the PS and a new SOCOM is coming out on PS3.
Then we have other quality looking games like Drake’s Fortune which looks to be one awesome game. And if you’re into this type of game (which I’m not) then Heavenly Sword looks excellent but I won’t get it because I’m not one for this type of thing.
In the 1.5 years I had my X360 it used to get used for football games, PGR 3 (which is a poor Gran Turismo substitute with great graphics) and Oblivion (for which the PS3 version is better graphically, loads quicker and doesn’t suffer from “invisible walls”) until it died with the red ring (twice).
Please stop complaining people about your PS3. If you want a quick fix of games to stop you being bored, I suggest you remember your PS2 back catalogue of great games or buy a Wii and use that for a few months. A lot of you clearly don’t have much of a life as it is because I can’t believe anyone has the time to have completed every PS3 game that’s been released yet.
Also I have to ask why did people buy a PS3 in the first place if they knew that the games weren’t out for it yet???? You only have yourselves to blame for parting with your cash so soon. I knew that the PS3 had only a couple of games on it I wanted when it came out, I didn’t get mine until June and I NEVER expected there to be many more games until around Xmas anyway. I bought it because I wanted rid of the X360 which kept braking and I couldn’t play it at night as it was soooo loud, but I thought I’d get it for the Bluray, playing PS2 games and the fact you can do so much more with it and in the not too distant future is going to have games that are going to make Xbox and Wii owners upgrade to a better spec machine. After all, without a Bluray/HD Drive in either, do you really expect either will last into 2009???
