That is great. I’m hoping they announce a Â£350 pricetag for the 60gb model, which seems a reasonable to get it right away.

Have no fear early adopters believe me Sony will shaft europe again! with some dodgy bundle like PS3 & Motorstorm or Resistance for Â£399.99!!

Problem with the US price cut is that it has made news on websites such as the BBC news website and even they work out the comparisons in prices to Europe. So people more than ever are aware we are being shafted.

Unless sony at least hit Â£349.99 with this price-cut they can forget about it, shopto.net and other online retailers have had it selling for between Â£359.99 - Â£399 so they at least got to beat these prices.

@jasp: Itâ€™s not just tax. 1 Euro = 1.36233 US Dollar. Sales tax in most countries here is about 19%, in the US itâ€™s what, 5%? So that still leaves 22% that goes straight into Sonyâ€™s pockets.

As a french early adopter, i think the price drop is a very good thing (more gamers=more games) BUT i hope that sony will do something for EU gamers, like a free sixasix or a couple of free blu-ray…

Good on Sony. They have lowered production costs and are able to pass on the savings to new customers. I’ve had my PS3 since launch. I’m not bitter about having paid a premium for it. It’s been a lot of fun to be an early adopter for a change!

So 500 bucks is around 250 UK pounds. Although this doesn’t include US sales tax (less than 10% extra?), it sounds like a pretty darn good price to me! Let’s hope that sales pick up!

If SCEE are talking about adding ‘value’ then that’s what they’ll do. We won’t see a massive reduction - we’ll get the 80Gb & MotorStorm bundle for a price that’s relatively close to where it is now. There’s no way Sonys jumping off the EU gravy train just yet….We won’t get the whole 17% reduction yet. Plain & simple.

It’s not a raw deal for early adopters at all; it comes with the territory. If you’re willing to pay the extra to have it early, then you get what you paid for. Console price reductions have been a reality for some time now.
