New dates have come in for the PlayStation store that are worth putting in your diary. June 15 sees the Motorstorm update available as a free download.
Also, the UK gets to see what David Jaffe did after God of War II when Calling All Cars hits the store on June 22, priced at £4.99.
Finally, Super Stardust will also be available on June 29, also for £4.99.
Anyone planning on picking these up?
Motorstorm and Calling All Cars definately, not sure about Super Stardust though.
Comment by Tom Eccles — Jun 8, 2007 @ 6:32 pm
Super Stardust HD is my most anticipated PSN game. I really hope it won’t be delayed, because the PS store content has been quite pitiful lately to be honest.
I’m sure it will dramatically improve over time and I’m aware that the PS store is still young, but we’re impatient to get more games and the last few updates haven’t provided enjoyment for us who are eager fans who always get the latest trailers well before they make it to the store and who are waiting for the big PS3 guns to be fired later this year.
Just one more thing: do you think Sony will ever make it software based instead of website based? It should make it much more responsive.
Comment by VG Aficionado — Jun 8, 2007 @ 6:54 pm
Might pickup Calling All Cars, but I might boycott it, due to it being out almost a month already in the US…
Seems there is still no end in sight to the 2nd class treatment that Sony is giving Europeans, but then again, they have sold 1m units, so why shoud they care, as long as the $$$/Yen keep rolling in…
Comment by Mark Gillespie — Jun 8, 2007 @ 7:12 pm
Um, you forget it takes more time to make European games due to the multiple languages. Where the US only requires english.
Comment by Techni — Jun 8, 2007 @ 7:29 pm
When will I be able to download from the Playstation store directly from my PSP? 20 million potential customers are being ignored!
Comment by Surtur — Jun 8, 2007 @ 7:34 pm
@ Mark Gillespie - You’re going to boycott it (on your own) because it took a month to get to the UK? How small minded are you? I do believe the PS3 and PSP were a lot later than a month to get here…
I’ll pick up Super Stardust even if it’s pretty much the same as all the other 2-stick-space-shooters because I’m fickle.
Comment by Ben Furneaux — Jun 8, 2007 @ 7:38 pm
I expect the reason Sony dripfeed us like this is that they know how to get our money. Spending a few quid a week on a small game or two feels like nothing. If they were available all at once, who would buy them all?
Comment by Tolstoy — Jun 8, 2007 @ 8:04 pm
Looking forward to it! Thanks for the update.
Comment by Timeless — Jun 8, 2007 @ 8:20 pm
I thought the motorstorm update was june 11, and the time attak on june 15??
Comment by KatanaKing — Jun 8, 2007 @ 8:55 pm
Its about god dam time!
@4, They speck english in england, New Zealand and Austrila or as the americans calls it “american”. So why cant they release it on time? PS store is region free. Calling all cars has very little lanuage in it, I doubt it takes a month to translate a paragraph.
Comment by carl — Jun 8, 2007 @ 9:07 pm
does anyone know when we are getting Ninja sigma demo?I mean in European PSN
Comment by Eddie — Jun 8, 2007 @ 9:10 pm
Errm, like QBert, which took 4 month to make, depsite being only in English…
Face it, language support is just a lame excuse…
The misery of European PSN users is ganing mass momentum, when every week, all we get is another crappy trailer of something we saw on GameTrailers MONTHS back…
Lets recap:
PSP delayed
PS3 delayed
Much more widespread Home betas in the US
No Warhawk beta for Europe
No Killzone 2 beta for Europe
Lower PS2 backwards compatability
Totally substandard PSN store
Comment by Mark Gillespie — Jun 8, 2007 @ 9:33 pm
threespeech.com. THANK YOU FOR LISTENING
UK/European PS3 owners want Sony to communicate with us about products/release dates. This is a good start.
Have to agree with Mark Gillespie; with sales of over 1 million - Europe loves the PS3 so why not
LET EUROPE PARTICIPATE IN THE PS3 BETA TESTS
Comment by Andronix — Jun 8, 2007 @ 9:57 pm
@ Andronix, the Official Playstation Forums recruit BETA testers every so often, then they get all the oppertunities.
Comment by Tom Eccles — Jun 8, 2007 @ 10:11 pm
@Mark Gillespie & @Andronix - Hate to break it to you, but there is a Warhawk beta for Europe. There are also quite extensive beta tests for Europe otherwise as well, as you would realise if you’d researched it.
However I can’t fault you on the details that we do have a store that is seriously lacking compared to the other regions.
Comment by CircleOfFire — Jun 8, 2007 @ 10:40 pm
Warhawk Beta in Eur is ONLY for official beta testers….you hardly call that an open beta
Comment by KatanaKing — Jun 8, 2007 @ 11:00 pm
All of them coming this way, please!
Just one thing, keep your word on the dates.
People just spent a lot of money and you are giving and extremely poor feedback to us.
You call trailers an update.
GET SERIOUS!
Comment by GabranthPT — Jun 8, 2007 @ 11:15 pm
More poo on the PSN….
Where the hell are the demos?
why does the new edge have an advert for uk ninja gaiden, saying ‘download the demo from tje PSN’
1: everyone already has from the US store
2: doh, it’s not up on the UK store
Comment by HAAAAAAAAAA! — Jun 8, 2007 @ 11:32 pm
Do remember that Super Rub A Dub and Go! Puzzle came out here first… Puzzle still isn’t out over in the US, so it’s a bit of give and take… that said, the US store has been up and running for months more than ours, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they had more content to start with.
The thing I’m worried about is SingStar making me re-buy all of the songs I already have for PS2 to get them on my PS3…
Comment by Volvi — Jun 9, 2007 @ 12:19 am
Already got Calling All Cars from the U.S store but will defiantely get the awesome MotorStorm update.
Comment by Tony Nibbles — Jun 9, 2007 @ 1:22 am
I agree about the trailers.
Encoding HD trailers these days is a minions job - it’s monkey nuts and easy to do.
At the very least there should be a couple of latest trailers up for grabs. It’s disappointing that users have to log in to U.S/Jap stores for newer content and fresh downloads.
I’m also surprised that there are not video downloads to buy on the store already. How hard can it be to set up a few deals with distributors and film companies?
Infact, I’m surprised someone hasn’t set up a web based store already to cash in on the slow coach attitude of Sony to VOD.
Comment by Tony Nibbles — Jun 9, 2007 @ 1:26 am
QUOTE: “June 15 sees the Motorstorm update available for download. It’s free so you may be able to afford it.”
I don’t like your tone. You’re very pretentious, saying “It’s free so you may be able to afford it”. That is just a stupid thing to say Sony (Yes, you are Sony), especially knowing all of the micro-transactions you are going to be shoving down our throats eventually. We won’t be able to afford anything here in a month or two.
You need to give us those Resistance maps for free as well, considering all of the delay you have made us endure. It’s really ridiculous.
Feel free to bash my post, I don’t care, I am really frustrated right now with SCEA. And as you can see, so is everyone else around here.
Comment by MCWHAMMER — Jun 9, 2007 @ 2:24 am

Sorry to bring up a comparison with a competitor, but if they are able to achieve worldwide simultaneous release for the majority of their downloads why can’t Sony?
Comment by Sean — Jun 9, 2007 @ 8:59 am

PSN is a miserable depressing place to visit. Sony really need to ratchet up what they put on there because the place is a graveyard with the ritual weekly disappointment of seeing a trailer and some bad game appearing.
Sony has tens of thousands of assets. Why don’t they stick up some TV episodes, or extended trailers, or behind the scenes “making of” specials, or news, or weather, or pop videos, or SOMETHING. PSN is pretty disgraceful when you think about the potential the thing has.
Comment by DrXym — Jun 9, 2007 @ 9:16 am
Sony is not only the problem,
the European Union is the biggest pain in the ass.
since countries like Italy,Germany and France demand their own language as a minimum for everything released in the EU.
which sony solved by giving 21 stores for the EU instead of 1 store World wide ,we live in the 2007
F -U these countries who sub even the A-team
Comment by Darkie — Jun 9, 2007 @ 9:51 am
Motostorm for sure, its the only game I own or probably will own, since I bought all my PS3’s for ‘other’ things. Things that begin with H and end in E and things that have to do with SEEING

Oh no, god help us - TWO WHOLE WEEKS?!? What on earth are we going to do?! Jeez, stop moaning - you rather they release them with glitches that let people float through walls?
Comment by Tom Eccles — Jun 9, 2007 @ 11:05 am
Im getting them all - im such a big fanboy
Anyway its nice to see the EU PSN finally starting to get almost weekly new updates - just found Mortal Kombat II - not a big graphic improvement but fun none the less.
Comment by Laze — Jun 9, 2007 @ 11:05 am
Thanks for the update. As said above, communication is appreciated.
I would really like to know the story with the Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo.
Will it release here, before the game’s out?
24. - That’s a question I ponder, on slow weeks, too.
I’m really happy that the “treasure-trash” ratio on PSN is weighted strongly to the more valuable, compared to that of competing machines. We’ll just call Q* Bert your horse armor, yeah, lol!
A very nice price, there, for Calling all Cars. I’d have bought it anyway, as it looks like hilariously frantic, good fun. I’m also very eager to play Super Stardust, because the media out for it left a very positive impression, and I want a pick up n play shooter for PS3, but I didn’t enjoy the BF demo, at all. I like the idea that you’re navigating the globes, which means that you don’t know what might appear in a few degrees time!
Of course, I’ll be patching up my racer and shooter, too. The new patch will have sorted the online boosting issues with the former, so that’ll surely make for far better online contests.
Finally, can we have some more information about Nucleus, before it’s out? It was suggested to be blast factor 2, by some quarters. But from what media’s out there, that’s clearly very inaccurate, so a more official explanation would be really helpful.
Comment by SplatteredHouse — Jun 9, 2007 @ 11:34 am
We all get fed up with the lack of content in the PS store. Its a fact of life that Sony is not interested in an online community. They have stated that they do not need to include a headset with the machine as you can use any bluetooth headset. What a load of Tosh if everyone who buys a PS3 had a headset included developers would have to have voice chat in all games like the 360. The best option for everyone is to join the USA and JAPAN store and then you will have access to all the content available.

I’ve never felt ripped off paying for Live, but of course if you do then cancel your subscription
Anyway it’s kind of off track on my point being
paid for content in Europe on PSN is falling behind North America & Japan
If Sony wants to give the impression it values its European customers then it may be worth holding back on releases until localisation for all regions is complete

@Mark Gillespie
The Warhawk BETA in the EU/UK is well under way. The servers are nice and busy! Just because you’re not on the programme doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
HOME is also looking very nice
Overall I think the PSN needs some work - I’m still waiting for the ability to put PSone games on my PSP. That is what will make me happy, not tit-for-tat over what downloadable game is available where.

Im planning on picking up super star dusk HD and nucleus when they come out. i believe super star dusk HD has a worldwide release so its going to hit NA, EU and JP PS store on that same day(i hope). no word on nucleus though?

Hello,
I have other problems. My problem is, that I cant buy from PSN at all! Because I do not have a credit card, like all my friends. And so PSN store just gives me only some videos/trailers + demos. And thats all. Which is really really sad.
PLS go for PSN cards like in japan!?
I BEG you fot that…
Even Microsoft managed to make pre-paid cards for xbox live., So, why not make the same?
cheers
Comment by konnichi — Jun 9, 2007 @ 1:41 pm
I think the PS store is OK. It’s a bit slow and is behind the US one, but that’s probably becasuse the PS3 has been out 3 months less time than in US, think how annoyed they must have been! I would like to see the store based inside the XMB though, as the webpage idea is so slow and annoying and once there is alot more media on there to look through it’s going to be hard to find exactly what you want. As for why they don’t just relaese more games, at least PS1 games, surely thats money for old rope and would keep us quiet at least?
Comment by ptpete — Jun 9, 2007 @ 2:22 pm
I can’t see how anyone can moan about the fact that you have to pay to use the competitors online service. For what equates to little more than a penny a day, you get the latest demos, betas, videos, ease of use for online chat in ALL games, and fast download speeds. Need I go on? PSN has nothing in comparison to its main competitor, and TBH, Sony need a good kick up the a*** to get things moving. Lair is about finished and ready to ship, as is Heavenly Sword. Where are some playable demos for what are to going to be huge games for PS3? Talk about a lack of advertising your own product…
Comment by Mark Hirst — Jun 9, 2007 @ 5:33 pm
It’s a start I guess - the PlayStation Store is an under-designed non-event at the moment.
Nintendo and Microsoft must be delighted.

How about they dont release the game ANYWHERE until all versions are complete?
Or why not release it on the New Zealand/Austrilian store at the same time as America, since we speck engish and ONLY english.

I’m all for that, after all its significantly speech/text heavy I wouldn’t expect it too difficult. Of course I suppose their are local ratings issues, but again if others seem to manage why can’t Sony
I guess the problem at this stage is there is a desperation to get content out in North America as soon as its remotely ready

The original games have all been awesome. Besides that i have a wishlist of old games i’d love to see on the PSN download service lol.
Toejam & Earl (the 1st game on Genesis), PS1 Metal Gear, Mike Tyson’s Punchout (not sure if that’s even possible) and Burgertime! lol.
Just a wish list. keep up the good work.

I am extremely dissappointed in these developers and more-so with SCEA for not manageing better. How many dissapointed customers are there going to be? Not just that but how many times until people just walk over to Microsoft? After a lot of dissapointment, this is strike 1 for me. 2 more and I’m selling and moving to Microsoft. PATHETIC
Comment by Steve44 — Jun 12, 2007 @ 5:27 am
Apart from Mark Gillespie’s excellent summing-up of what I was thinking regarding lack of support (read: commitment) for the UK/Europe, I would like to add that the “Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection” download was excellent value for money & has kept me (and my three kids) busy between online matches of “Resistance: Fall of Man” (when the odd network glitch has meant that it was impractical to play with our US counterparts on much faster lines).
Also, the “Virtua Tennis 3″ & “Genji: Days of the Blade” [yeah,... I know] demos have kept my six year old entertained enough to promote these as purchases. So it shows the “system” works
However, I would like to see some PS1 titles [just one would do so I can try out the new firmware for my PSP] added to the PlayStation Network Store, and perhaps an upcoming release history of when to expect new content online to download. An extra ‘tab’ perhaps to the right of the others, so that I don’t have to keep seeing the same advert to keep downloading Tekken 5 at the special reduced price until 23 May, no, 23 June, whatever.
Additionally, looking at the downloadable game content in the US [ http://www.us.playstation.com/PS3/Store/20001#tab=downloadablegames&p=1 ] where is all this stuff for the UK?
ChampionShip Sprintâ„¢ Game
Joust®
Rampageâ„¢ World Tour
Rampart®
Gauntlet IIâ„¢
Mortal Kombat®II
Wipeout® (for PS3™/PSP®)
2Xtreme® (for PS3™/PSP®)
JetMoto® (for PS3™/PSP®)
Rally Cross™ (for PS3™/PSP®)
Destruction Derby (for PS3™/PSP®)
Jumping Flash!™ (for PS3™/PSP®)
Medievil® (for PS3™/PSP®)
CoolBoarders® (for PSP®)
Hot Shots Golf® 2 (for PSP®)
Crash Bandicoot® (for PS3™/PSP®)
Syphon Filter® (for PS3™/PSP®)
Tekken® 2 (for PS3™/PSP®)
Cash Guns Chaosâ„¢ DLX
I could go on & list all the game trailers, theatrical trailers, and game add-on downloads that the UK doesn’t have too, but I’ll let somebody have a rant about that!
If the market leaders (Sony, Microsoft, & Nintendo, in no particular order) get the download technology & available catalogue up to scratch then there’s no reason why online downloads cannot be the saviour of the industry. Less than a tenner a title to download to your consoles’ hard drive(s) would reduce piracy & would mean increased sales, not only because of a reduced cost-per-unit to the consumer, but also because there is no need to shop around for the cheapest deal & wait for delivery by standard postal services. There is also no need to scour car boot sales for fake versions, or chip a console to play cheaper imported versions of the same title. The decision by Sony to allow all three regions (Japan, US, and Europe) to be able to play PS3 (and PSP) game titles from any other region without restriction is also a way forward… but also promotes the use of eBay & other online vendors in order to source a similar, if not the same, cheaper title from overseas.
Whilst I’m here though, a suggestion for Sony:
What I’d like to see is the ability to save games during demos & transfer them to the full commercial version… perhaps even with an incentive to do so… “cashback” either physical or virtual (in-game), or maybe the addition to a mailing list for future promotional games & associated mailouts.
Thanks for listening.
BFN,
fp.

It would be nice if Sony had a bit more understanding of the UK market. If the rest of the EU (and we’re not really that keen on membership) wants special rules, fine, just give us the simple option in the UK of choosing to use the US instead of the UK store — it is, after all, a global internet apparently. We sent our soldiers out to support the US when no-one else was interested, it’s the same old story, now that’s been decided we get treated like school kids. EU needs “special language packs”, “special stores” (presumably to deal with all the different types of euro ?) when we know full well the only special thing about being this side of the Atlantic is that we get to pay “special” prices for less hardware than the US and pay more for the same software - when it’s eventually allowed to dribble towards our shores under a thousand smirking caveats. US dollar is sucking at the moment, GBP is strong - how about a bit of priority?
Also the store design is, without mincing words, very very sucky. It looks like the worst bits of the 70s (British 70s, you had quite a good 70s in the US) murky, threadbare and nothing on the shelves but a suspicion that even if there was large selection it’ll rapidly become impossible to find stuff. Inconsistent design, terrible navigation, it’s bloody web-page — hardly very next generation ?? If it’s just a stop-gap until Home is an all-singing and dancing virtual psn then fine, but either let people know that so they can make allowances or at least get a half-decent few pages up now that don’t look so … tatty.
Everything else about the machine I think is great though.

I’d love to buy some of these titles - especially Super Stardust - if you could actually MANAGE TO GET ANY OF THEM OUT ON TIME. It’s June 29 now. So where’s the Stardust download?
