Check these links for a video review of the PS3 provided by Three Speech regular Kropotkin. A third part will follow shortly.
The PS3 has to be the most talked about console since the original
Playstation but for very different reasons. Back in 1995 Sony was the
underdog trying the usurp the throne of the then mighty SEGA and Nintendo.
Sony turned the gaming industry on its head and pushed it into the
mainstream thanks to the original PSX as it was once known. 12 years later
things couldn’t be more different. Sony are the dominant force in video
games and everyone, and I mean everyone, wants to knock them off of their
perch. I believe that this has a great deal to do with the volley after
volley of attacks the PS3 console has had to withstand since its first
appearance at E3 2006. That and the continued rampant foot-in-mouth disease
that has spread throughout the executives of SCEI.
Despite the tirade of abuse that the PS3 has endured over the past year or
so. Despite the vilification of people who express any positive opinions
about the PS3. Despite the odd belief expressed by Sony executives that
giant enemy crabs existed in feudal Japan and took part in major battles
during that period. Despite all of that, I was determined to get one because
I knew that yes, it fairs badly when compared to online play when compared
against the XBox 360, which I also own. Yes, it is very expensive for a
games console but dirt cheap for a Blu-ray player but that’s another
discussion all together. Yes, the system does not have a ‘killer app’ in the
same way XBox and XBox 360 has with Halo/Gears of War. But it does have one
thing that I think pips it to the post, but only just. Potential. Having
played on the system for a considerable amount of time and messed around
with the media set up and the Playstation Network shop I am convinced that
provided Sony guide the PS3 through these ever so choppy waters the machine
will succeed. All Sony needs is a good pilot!
To emphasis my point I have created a series of videos that act a guide to
all things that is the PS3. Part 1 of the video is a hardware guide where I
describe in detail the PS3 console and its peripherals. In the second video
I give a guided tour of the Cross Media Bar aka XMB which is the PS3’s front
end interface. Finally, in the last video I have taken a selection of the
top selling PAL launch titles for the PS3 and let the gameplay footage do
all the talking.
I hope you enjoy watching them as much as I did making them.
Well done on producing an excellent guide to the PS3 Kropotkin! I look forward to the next edition on gameplay footage… Keep up the great work!

@ seedaripper
Apologies for appearing to ‘grunt’ every time I moved the console in the first video but I was sitting down in front of it was difficult to move around as I didn’t have sufficent leaverage.
As for my monotonous tone well I can’t help the voice I was born with!
Anyway thanks for the feed back. You may find the 3rd video more to your liking as I don’t say a word in it. It’s just sample gameplay footage.
