I packed up my PS3. I only play Soccer and none of my PS2 games could play on my PS3. I still use my PS2 to play games and the PS3 has been useless cos SONY has not been considerate.

I have repeatedly upgraded with software from Sony, upto upgrade ver 1.92 and yet nothing good has happened. It all looks like a wasted purchase, considering that a friend had to help me buy the PS3 from UK to 9ja on release in Europe.

I hope Sony would address the issue once and for all to ensure that we do not purchase this gaming machine for nothing. If they are serious about emulation, they would program a totally compartible software at once and make everybody happy.

I am totally fed-up. It’s all fuck-up arrangement. It’s a shame for Sony to not live upto the promised 100% compartibility.

As for Europe getting an “inferior” version of the PS3, Sony never intended to include the EE+GS hardware for *all* PS3 versions in the first place and just go software emulation. The problem was that the emulation software was not yet ready at the time of the Japan and US launch of the PS3 so they included the EE+GS chip to provide backward compatibility. In fact the next production runs of the Japan and US PS3’s will see the chip removed and go emulation just as well.

The real insult is that Sony only save $27 a unit by removing the Emotion Engine. Considering that we are paying waaaay more than the US and Japan, making a big chunk of our old games useless or “playable with issues” for the sake of $27 is a bit of a slap in the face. Why not offer a fully BC version for Â£15 more or something?
