3) been watching the sales on eBay and lots of preorders are going for the retail price only so not much to be made by selling it on eBay as the shops all will seem to be awash with them

I am very disoppinted with the news of phill harrison regarding ps3 PAL that the emotion chip will be removed from ps3.
As uk fans waited for ps3 for longer then us and japanises market and finaly when most uk ps3 fans booked their pre orders sony decided to take Emotion engine chip out of ps3. as how impartant is imotion chip is only games develpover can tell as i am game devoloper for last 10 years I know how impartant is imotaion chip is for ps3. only 1000 ps2 title will be compatible with ps3 rest ps2 title would not be compatible with ps3 all because of removing of emotion engine chip fromm ps3 most of my friends are taking teir money back the ps3 pre orders they booked. I say its time for uk fans to bycote ps3 and not to buy ps3 consule till sony treat as same as us and japanise market.

xbox360 at least released teir console on right time so devolper get teir hends on michine to devolpe good title for 360 like gears of war and forth commimg best tile HALO3 now sony ps3 have good title on it as well the problem is that the developer did not get enough time to develope ps3 games because ideot like phill harrison who decide to take control and change the specfectionof p3 PAL console.because of this emtion chip removel from ps3 Pal uk michine teir will more problem ahead downloading patches would not solve the problem sony need to leave emotion chip back in Pal michine in regarding to solve the problem. As i can see the only problem sony and phill harrison got is cost of developing ps3 most of the componint for ps3 still expinsive so phill harrison decided to save money/cost on ps3 and decided to take omition chip out of ps3 PAL.only way is not to buy ps3 PAL UK.only buy us ps3 because emotion chip is there to take adavantge of and uk fans can play not only PAL PS3 games also in future you can play blueray dvd region free on us michine. So i say itâ€™s time for uk fans to take their refund on the ps3 michine they preorder. So sony should not change the spectaion of uk ps3 PAL. As uk fans are paying more money then us and japanises market. its time for uk fans to stand toghter and not to buy any ps3 PAL michines till sony and phill harrison fix this emtion chip engine back in ps3 PAL machines. or if not then sony should reduce the price of ps3 PAL.

got me jap/us ps3 + motorstorm 2 weeks ago for 380 quid.. and out of me 54 ps1/ps2 games iv’e amassed - only tekken 1 wont boot up via hdmi (480p)

Isn’t this the same company, that announced that Nintendo Wii has zero backwards compatibility?

Hope they know their own product a bit better…

In any case, I’m not considering buying a PS3, and now even less. When it comes to backwards compatibility, to be honest I don’t play that many PS1 games on my PS2. But that’s only becouse I play them on PSP.

THANK GOODNESS they’ve dropped the PS2 rubbish. Hanging on to that is like finding old CPM code in XP!

I enjoyed my PS2 but its time to move on - ebay here I come.

Backwards compatibility has held us back for years - people’s stubborness to ‘let go’ holding back progress as usual.

If you’re that worried about BC, keep you PS2 or buy another one - you can pick them up less than 50UKP now.

Onwards and upwards I say!

You know that Simpsons episode featuring Camp Krusty? Well, seems like Europe is Camp Sony PS3, and I’m Bart Simpson. And from the looks of it, I’m not the only Bart Simpson.

BC was important to me - it was a useful feature (less hassle, a new, fresh machine, etc) which justified the high asking price. A bit like the Mac which is more expensive than comparable PCs but has so many appealing features (design, useful gadgets) that people buy it anyway. Now even that is gone. Really, I don’t think I’ll get the PS3 at launch anymore.

I’m really disappointed this time. What’s next? A flip-flop on online services? Will we have to pay a monthly fee for them after launch? As they say, this is the last straw. Sony must respond soon and shed more light on what they have just done. Or release a preliminary compatibility list before launch. I’m pretty sure many of us will be extremely relieved if recent “killer apps” such as Okami, Final Fantasy XII, God of War 2, Resident Evil 4, etc. made the list.

But right now? I don’t trust Sony anymore. I don’t like to be played for a fool. And, bottom line: we pay MORE for LESS. There’s no logic here, except of course that Sony loses less money per unit sold…
