There was some debate yesterday on Three Speech about whether or not Sony has any comment on the current “solid” rumors by Luke Smith from 1UP and CVG regarding Killzone being shown at GDC next month, possibly with a playable demo. The response is:
“No, Killzone won’t be at GDC at all,” stated SCEA Manager, Ryan Bowling, in a conversation with IGN held yesterday afternoon. “The time for that game is coming and we’ll have new information about it in the future, but not at GDC.”

Be careful with 1UP, the Ziff Davis game group (who publish EGM) and G4 TV, they seem determined to destroy PS3 by any FUDy means necessary. I wish Sony did more to counter all of the crap they keep on spreading. Not that this seems like a serious attempt to make Sony or PS3 look bad… or maybe yes? Anyway, have you seen the latest EGM issue? It makes me want to puke.

VG Aficianado- Really the only way to counteract that is to blindside the media and public with an onslaught of information when they aren’t expecting it. I’m not a big fan of 1UP at all, but in Luke Smith’s defense, he could still be partially correct in that it could still be shown before the “H-word” 3 beta. There’s been so many rumors about the game since E3 ‘05 that I take everything on it with a grain of salt (or maybe a bucket), but at least it’s encouraging that Sony is saying the time to show it is coming.

Sony really needs to start showing their games and stop waiting…what are they waiting for? I mean pre-launch the wait for info was fine but now it’s three months since launch so they really start talking about their online strategy and the status of key first party games.

If Sony are not ready to show the game that’s fine by me. Yes it would be nice but we can’t have everything we want when we want it.
With regards to various online publishers - sometimes their agenda is so apparent that it makes you wonder why people even bother to continue visiting their sites. I stopped a long time ago.
We need more sites that Gamesey.com - that focus on the positives, and not the negatives. Gaming after all is meant to be a fun pastime!!

Thanks for clearing it up threespeech!

Luke Smiths “rumor” never contained anything about Killzone being presented at GDC. He said that it will be shown soon (demo etc), and then specualted that it could be unveiled at GDC since it is only one month away.

Well, Heavenly Sword, Lair and Warhawk, all of which appear in the “Launch” point of sale materials don’t even have firm release dates yet. Although there is strong buzz that Killzone will release this year it is highly doubtful given the track-record to date.
I agree with the other posters, if Journalism in the Computer Entertainment field was gaining any credibility it has certainly lost it by now. The rabid parisan PS3 coverage has really been appauling. Examples:
>Konami cancels PS3 support - Just because Famitsu omitted some games in development from its monthly listing.
>Oblivion devs unhappy with Blu-ray speed - Just because they were using standard techniques to limit seek-time.
How about the converse?
>Xbox adopts 1080p support - There are ZERO articles talking about M$ft copying Sony.
>Wii Multiplayer - There is no Wii mutiplayer at this time. While a great hue and cry would have been raised if it were the PS3 there is ZERO negative commentary in the media regarding this fact.

Exactly Fivos. Sony denied Killzone coming to GDC. I expect an announcement soon about Killzone and maybe even a demo of the game on the PS Store as soon as this weekend

Damn! i really wanted to see something about Killzone, i for one believe that the E3 2k5 trailer is possible on the PS3 hell they can even do better then that, after playing countless hours of Resistance and i never seen a FPS with so many things going on at once and this is just the tip of the iceberd, cant wait cant wait,Killzone should be alot better.

i love the ps3, but dang! where’s the love sony? i’m giving you guys the benefit of the doubt considering the run up to euro launch (so very, very close) — but following that, i expect a FLOOD of ps3 goodness. seriously. the BEST WAY to combat all this BS anti-”journalism” is to flood these 2-bit rags with all the awesome stuff that is PS3 … Past, Present AND Future. it’s the only way. Kill them with kindness !!! Kill them with kick ass features, games, blah !!! Let’s do this already. Release the giant — PS3 cometh! (I hope

One good thing I heard today was that while playing Singstar at D.I.C.E. Phil was able to download music in the background…just thought I’d share that….but I do hope that Sony starts letting the cat out of the bag starting next month.

“I read some where KillZone was being ported to Xbox 360.”
Lol.
Yeah, and Zelda was being released for Xbox, and microsoft will start making games for PS3…
Comment by Akisame — Feb 9, 2007 @ 7:28 am
HAHA. That is easily the most rediculous thing Ive ever heard in my entire life. Now why would Sony or Factor 5 defect to Microsoft???????? Thats just obsurd!
Comment by Charles — Feb 9, 2007 @ 4:15 pm
Why start the rumor? Is this a rumor started by Luke Smith (super Halo fan) with an agenda to disappoint gamers by making them expect too much? Thus, creating negative feelings toward PS3 i.e. yeah! Why don’t we get a demo?!… don’t expect a demo and you won’t be disappointed. You could be pleasantly surprised if it really is true.
Comment by greendublin — Feb 9, 2007 @ 10:11 pm
Besides, it doesn’t make sense. Sony is trying to sell Resistance at Euro launch — why diffuse the Resistance excitement (after all the hard work and sacrifice Insomniac did) before the PS3 is even available in Europe?
Comment by greendublin — Feb 9, 2007 @ 10:13 pm
well they’ve been hard at work on the game for a couple of years now (PSP liberation inbetween) im sure the could get a small enclosed multiplayer map out
i think sony needs to start being a bit more aggresive…espicially with regards to MS LIVE…give us a demo too!
