The latest of today’s (seemingly very well-founded) rumours is that the official announcement on the launch date of the PS3 in Europe will be made next Tuesday (January 23). And as mentioned before, it’s looking highly likely that the launch date itself will be March 23.

It will be interesting to see if the rumors hold true and Europe only gets the expensive 60GB model instead of having a choice between it and the 20GB model.
Considering EB Games, Target, Best Buy, and Circuit City around here (Plano, TX) indicate Sony is discontinuing the 20GB model, this has to mean either a price drop for the 60GB model already, or Sony is going to shaft the lower-end users. Either way, it’s not good news if this rumor is indeed true…

Hopefully they do quit making the 20 GB as I think it’s a waste of money. People are better off getting the 60 GB. Been loving mine since I got it.

ThreeSpeech- Sorry for double post (no way to edit), but I have a question for you to pass along to Sony. What is the status of Warhawk? There are some nasty rumors going around about it being canned.
Comment by Andy — Jan 16, 2007 @ 8:10 pm
The latest rumours on WarHawk point at that it will be made available as a downloadable game. Sony needs to tell us more on it as the last time we saw it was at TGS 2006 as a playable demo.

Update - The latest rumours on WarHawk are fake, David Jaffe confirms those are all wrong.

i still have a 100GB laptop disk laying around waiting for a PS3
i put the disk in an xbox360 and got banned on xbox live which is pretty crappy…
and unlike the xbox360 the PS3 is user upgradeable.

cool… hope the territories it launches in has good demand along with quality titles… oh yeah
SONY: PUT SPLIT SCREEN MULTIPLAYER IN MOTORSTORM - i’m adding this to every comment i put up here on threespeech because if there is enough gamers that want the mode, the developer has said they’ll make it

Seems as if the price of PS3 just went up by €30. At least judging by the Irish official site.
I wonder if that was the compensation for waiting impatiently…
Sony moves in mysterious ways.

I checked the Spanish site and it says 499 and 599 € as expected. Who knows what will happen, or whether that increased price includes a game or something.

VG Aficianado- Hahaha, I love David Jaffe. He squashed those rumors. Thanks for posting the link, I read GAF a lot but must have missed that.

“And then we have got the European launch in April, which is very important to us.”
Please tell me he doesn’t know what is going on in his own company

Is March the end of Sony’s fiscal year? I think so, but I’m not sure.
It would be interesting to know if that would make Sony eager to start selling in Europe or if it makes them wait til April.
