SingStar for the PS3 - New Wolfmother trailer. (Thankyou SK)
It’s not new but people here at Three Speech are still intrigued by it. First glance it appears to be a collaboration between Coca Cola and GTA… a closer look would reveal that it’s actually some clever animation from Smith & Folkes/Nexus London. Is this the next step for advertising? What do you think?
Some more MotorStorm pics for you!
Quite a few of you have commented on what the plans are for SingStar on the PS3. You can find plenty of good info and insight here - www.http://blogs.ign.com/Sony_SingStar
With the costs of producing a title skyrocketing, what are the big three console makers doing to help combat this issue? How and why are we where we are today?
To answer this, we need to take a look back - back at a time when a few friends could get together and make a profitable game.
Back in the days of the Atari 2600/5200 and the Intellivision, the console manufacturer, in most cases, was the only publisher of titles for the system. As the technology needed to produce the cartridges got cheaper and cheaper, a few companies popped up and started to produce carts that 3rd party development groups could use to sell their titles on without having to obtain direct approval from the console manufacturer.
Needless to say, this caused a lot of pain for the console makers.
Word from PlayStation in the UK is there’ll be further announcements in the build up to the launch.
In terms of what they’ll be: info on number of units to be shipped? Info on specific retail launch activity? Potentially, as suggested by many of you, info on ‘extras’ to be made available at launch? We’ll keep you posted.
Quick one to say check back in on Three Speech at midnight, when we’ll be running all available info on the launch details of the PS3 in the UK/Europe.
kotaku.com is running a piece on how the notorious modders at Japan’s T.Zone DIY PC Shop have successfully rigged a PS3 up to a 750GB HDD.
Here’s the latest PS3 film - this one uses some BMX trickery to bring to life the console’s SIXAXIS controller.
…But don’t worry - that doesn’t mean the launch itself is being delayed! Word from Sony is they’re still finalising a few details, meaning the announcement is more likely to be made Thursday or Friday of this week now. (And we’re sticking with the previously mooted March 23 launch date as 99% certain!)
